The Turkish Minister for Transport Binali Yıldırım gave a special interview to Bayrak Haber while on his visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He gave news of new road work projects in the TRNC.

The Turkish Minister for Transport Binali Yıldırım gave news that a 255 kilometer dual carriageway and a brand new 145 kilometer road will be built in the TRNC.

‘Ongoing road works around the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will be completed in the year 2012’ said Mr. Yıldırım.

Referring to the Ercan Airport the Turkish Minister for Transport said that Ercan Airport will be turned into an airport just like the Istanbul Ataturk or the Ankara Esenboğa Airport.

Asked his views regarding the Ercan Airport’s build, operate transfer model, Mr. Yıldırım said that the airport was incapable of meeting the needs of the increase of air traffic in the TRNC.

In order for Ercan Airport to meet the needs of air traffic, it needs to become an international airport with a new terminal, ramp, passenger boarding bridges and a second runway.

Are you kidding me?

When I visited my cousin's business premises 2 months ago in Agliantzia, I had my binoculars out on the 5th floor. On average there was one movement per hour, during the busy period, and they think they can't meet demand and need a second runway.

Halil, that is what I would classify as a country airfield outback whoop whoop Kentucky USA....only difference being is that Ercan is not recognised where as all country strips in Kentucky are! Gettit boy!

for crying out loud is the "trnc" community aware of what it costs to build a second runaway. I lve in a city of 1,milliom 1.8 million for the State and we cannot either build another runway and the one we have manages this sort of population. I wonder were very slow and economically developing economy can afford prosibly one billion $$$$$$$ t build a second runway
