Turkish Sultan Erdogan has accused a number of charities in Germany of providing funds to alleged terrorist organisations.
Erdogan said..."the Turkish government had been watching transactions and had informed the German authorities of their concerns, but to no avail."
On Monday Erdogan repeated his claims, although he did not name the charities he was implicating.
The respected German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel suggests that Erdogan's claim is an attempt to deflect from the mis-appropriation of charitable funds by Erdogan's own AKP party, a matter that is being investigated.
German charities have contributed towards sewerage works in the Kudish regional capital of Diyarbakir.
