Cyprus will become the richest country in Europe
05 October, 2011
Cyprus will become the richest country in Europe after the drilling and financial exploitation of natural gas, Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cullen College of Engineering of Houston University Michael J. Economides has said.

In statements to CNA, on the sidelines of the “Maritime Cyprus 2011” Conference, held here, Economides said that there are indications for immense natural gas reserves within Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

He expressed the view that reserves in Block 12 where drilling is under way “are 50 times more” than Israel’s Leviathan.

Economides said that an institution must be set up to coordinate all actions with regard to the financial exploitation of the natural gas.

Asked if Cyprus could become an energy hub, Economides replied affirmatively, noting that the position of Cyprus in Europe will be very important.

In his speech during the conference, Economides said that the financial exploitation of the natural gas in Cyprus EEZ will increase the per capita income by 70% during the next ten years and that Cyprus will become the richest country in Europe.

He noted that hydrocarbons will continue to be the main energy source and there will be no other alternative solutions in the near future.

Houston-based ‘Noble Energy’, whose drilling rig is already in place, off the island’s southern coast, has begun drilling in Cyprus’ EEZ. The company has a concession to explore for hydrocarbons in an offshore field, south of Cyprus, known as Block 12.

this goes in line with noble...why would noble go to all this expence for small quantities?...

the tcs better come back with some concrete proposals such as:
1...no guarantors
2...less territory
3...no settlers
4...no virgin birth, join the RoC, with modifications
5...no derogations
6...no kemalist constitutions and shit

time is running out for tcs as the world moves forward they will be left behind and become extinct...oh i forgot halil is gonna assimilated the settlers...

turkey has been told to FO from the area, but allowed for some home feeding of the mushrooms at home purposes...piri reis, will find nothing coz it was a turkish option as no one else would have come..remember international rules are at play here...

I think we'll see a solution soon. It will be in Turkey's interest to coorporate encourage unification so she can join the EU and benefit from the riches.

the TC's dont have a say, we know that their voice has been diluted because they are outnumbered by the settlers.

whatever plan goes to referendum can be vetoed by the settlers if it is not to their liking, this is the ultimate flaw in the 'peace talks'.

Whether the Roc or the greek Cypriots like it or not, the settlers are being factored in to the equation. If the settler dont like what is being proposed for their 'new country' there will not be a solution.

This is the reality and Turkey along with the other TC leaders who have perverted the course of justice have fucked up the RoC properly in this regard.

I feel, the settler issue is a discussion TC's need to have with their leadership.
