A little CF scepticism wouldn't go amiss on this pipeline even if it is a Saturday night.
A few things don't sit well with pipe-line as portrayed in the map above...
The huge, mega, massive environmental damage it would cause across the whole width of Crete, the whole of the western coast of Greece, the whole length of Italy and then in to the Alps with more damage. The environmental lobby in Europe are not gonna be at all happy and who could blame them.
The cost will be huge. The abandoned Nabucco pipe-line of 2,000 mile length was budgeted at some 14 Billion Dollars. The 1700km Alaskan North Slope pipe-line, which would service the US Mid-West, is costed at an eye-wateringly cool 41 Billion Dollars.
... and then bear in mind that a few days ago Noble Energy entered in to preliminary agreements with the South Korean fabricators of all things massive at sea, Daewoo, for a floating LNG plant to service the Noble/Israeli Tamar and Dalit fields... which border the Noble/CY Aphrodite/Block 12 field.
HOUSTON, Nov. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Noble Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NBL) announced that the partners in the Tamar and Dalit fields, offshore Israel, have entered into a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. and D&H Solutions AS to evaluate Floating LNG for the export of natural gas from the Tamar and Dalit fields.
From which gas would be transported by LNG ships to anywhere in the world for best price.
