The article also refers to an article in the Wall Street Journal, in which (amongst other things) Hilary Clinton is reported to have told Turkey to tone down the bluster. Well worth a read at...

Turks have already started hostilities through their invasion and occupation of Cyprus as well as constant threats over the gas exploration.

Israel ramps up drilling patrols

Israel is reported to have boosted their military presence in the sea south of Cyprus, according to state broadcaster CyBC.

The increase in military operations, which includes fighter jets and war ships patrolling near to Nobel offshore drilling rig, is designed to send a message to Turkey that “they are not the gatekeeper of the Mediterranean.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, the US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton has told Turkey to tone down their threats against Cyprus.

Separately, Turkey’s only research vessel the Piri Reis is still anchored in Famagusta port on the east coast of Cyprus. According to Radio Napa, several Turkish navy ships have also docked in Famagusta over the past week.

Well there we have it. The day Israel decides to ramp up operations, Hillary Clinton visits Turkey and issues a warning to back down or else.

They are not the gatekeepers in the East Med.

The US/Israel work in unison.

Hopefully, this gives greece the pretext to ramp up operations in the Aegean, and declare its 12 mile territorial seas and issue licenses for exploration in the Aegean, Mediterranean, and Ionian sea.

They will be given all the support they need from US and Israel.

So what is Greece waiting for? Are they still waiting for Turkey's Europeanisation?

That really amazes me.

It's amazing how they are waiting for little Cyprus to test the waters before they press ahead. it should've been the other way around. It should be Cyprus waiting to see how things pan out with Greece leading the way not Cyprus.

The next time I hear they are our 'mother' country, I'm going to blow a gasket. Cyprus being the mother of Greece is more believable.

Erm Captain.... on the matter of Greece's exploration for oil or gas.

Kathimerini reported a couple of days ago that Greece is putting out explorations to tender in its western waters, the Ionian Sea, where there are good prospects for oil, and also in its southern waters to the south of Crete.

Story at... http://www.ekathimerini.com/4dcgi/_w_ar ... 011_409662

So yes...case of brave, little CY setting the example for the "mother" ...????
