The Turks outnumber Greeks 7 to 1, and still the Greeks won several wars against the Turks, and this is how they liberated most of their nation. I wonder if there would be Greece today if the Greeks in 1821 started negotiations.
And it is of course good to have great powers on your side in wars where your enemy far outnumbers you. This is why we should push Turkey away from EU, eventually away from the West and into Islam, and when that happens the balance of power will change and we will be able to win another war against the Turks. Fortunately the arrogant leadership of Turkey is doing us a big favor and is helping us do what we want. Thats is the only way Cyprus can be liberated. If you have a better solution that would actually liberate the north part of Cyprus then let me know (so called "solutions" that only legalize the Turkification of the north part of our island while putting the whole Cyprus under Turkish control can not be called a "liberation")
If ever Greece was to do something outrages, then this is the time to do it.
Yes, they are financially on their knees, but have some international backing, which was never the case in the past. The balance has already changed significantly, but Greece don't have the bollocks. They will not always have this backing. It can change back over time, so it is up to Greece, and Cyprus to take advantage of the situation, which they don't always do.
Just leave the tough guy act to Israel, which knows how to handle itself, which is why I respect them more than Greece.
Bananiot was trying to portray Greece as the aggressor in 1897, but there was no mention that Crete was under Ottoman occupation. So I would like Bananiot to explain to us exactly who the aggressor was in 1897. Was it Greece who started a campaign to liberate Crete, or was it the Ottoman Empire that occupied Crete?
Go on Bananiot, can you please clarify for us?

The Greeks have not been the aggressors in any case during the last several centuries. Any wars the participated were for the liberation of Greek territories from foreign invaders.
But I disagree that this is the time to start a war against Turkey. The process that will eventually change the balance of power has just started and it will take some years for this process to be completed (assuming the Turks continue to act in such an arrogant way)

Nikitas wrote:"Greece will weaken, Turkey will get stronger."
THis is a simplistic interpretation of events. Turkey seems to be getting stronger, but it is a mystery how a nation can be posting continual growth when all its markets are shrinking.
In 1897 Greece was bankrupt and lost a war with Turkey, 15 years later, in 1912 it tore apart the Ottoman Empire. Things are not as obvious as they look.
Turkey is on a power projection trip which will eventually bring it into conflict with other powers in a context which Greece will have no part. When Erdo and Davut dream of reviving the Ottoman empire, a totally silly notion in the 21st century, and of sending their navy to the Indian ocean, then it is obvious that they are on a very strange course. There is no need to follow them in their fantasy.
