Israeli Jet Fighters Overfly Occupied CY and Turkish Coast

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

This sparrow fellow talks a lot of (about) bollocks, doesn't he CBBB? The fallacy to even begin to think that it will be better for us for Turkey to be outside the EU is beyond believe.

The humiliating armistice that followed defeat, left its mark on Black ’97, as it became known. Today the super patriots want to drag Greece into a military conflict with Turkey but they also hope that Israel will also do some fighting for them, perhaps the lion’s share, because these fools have not learned any lessons from history.

The Turks outnumber Greeks 7 to 1, and still the Greeks won several wars against the Turks, and this is how they liberated most of their nation. I wonder if there would be Greece today if the Greeks in 1821 started negotiations.

And it is of course good to have great powers on your side in wars where your enemy far outnumbers you. This is why we should push Turkey away from EU, eventually away from the West and into Islam, and when that happens the balance of power will change and we will be able to win another war against the Turks. Fortunately the arrogant leadership of Turkey is doing us a big favor and is helping us do what we want. Thats is the only way Cyprus can be liberated. If you have a better solution that would actually liberate the north part of Cyprus then let me know (so called "solutions" that only legalize the Turkification of the north part of our island while putting the whole Cyprus under Turkish control can not be called a "liberation")

If ever Greece was to do something outrages, then this is the time to do it.

Yes, they are financially on their knees, but have some international backing, which was never the case in the past. The balance has already changed significantly, but Greece don't have the bollocks. They will not always have this backing. It can change back over time, so it is up to Greece, and Cyprus to take advantage of the situation, which they don't always do.

Just leave the tough guy act to Israel, which knows how to handle itself, which is why I respect them more than Greece.

Bananiot was trying to portray Greece as the aggressor in 1897, but there was no mention that Crete was under Ottoman occupation. So I would like Bananiot to explain to us exactly who the aggressor was in 1897. Was it Greece who started a campaign to liberate Crete, or was it the Ottoman Empire that occupied Crete?

Go on Bananiot, can you please clarify for us?

The Greeks have not been the aggressors in any case during the last several centuries. Any wars the participated were for the liberation of Greek territories from foreign invaders.

But I disagree that this is the time to start a war against Turkey. The process that will eventually change the balance of power has just started and it will take some years for this process to be completed (assuming the Turks continue to act in such an arrogant way)

can you please point us to the post where I said it will be better for us if Turkey were out of the EU?

I did not say such a thing. I stated that Turkey will never become a member of the EU with such behavior. Clearly, if Turkey rectifies itself, and respects international law, and human rights, then they could potentially become an EU member. This will involve much improvement on their part. If they can achieve such a thing, then good. Going by their behaviour right now, they are way off track, and if they continue, then they can kiss the EU good bye.

Don't be so sure that Greek pilots do not violate Turkish air space in a tit for tat game that has been going on for 30 years. There are casualties on both sides that prove this. If memory serves more Turkish jets have crashed in the Aegean during interceptions than Greek ones.

The Greek navy systematically harasses Turkish search vessels and this has been documented by foreign ships too, like the Norwegian one that was chased by the destroyer Polemistis as detailed in Wikileaks.

There is a difference between Greece and Israel, and that is membership in the EU that limits the ways Greece can respond to provocations. Israel is assured of US backing, Greece has no such assurance from its EU partners who often behave like pimps who never heard the word "solidarity". They are always ready to propose the "peaceful solving of disputes" when the problem, as they damn well know, is unilateral unjusitifed claims by the Turks.

I wouldn't expect you to believe anything sensible. You only believe what the Turks instruct you to believe. The ideal would of course be for Turkey to leave from Cyprus and to do the reforms that are needed in order to enter the EU. So far there is no sign that the Turks are willing to do such thing. And since the Turks will not leave voluntarily from Cyprus, we will have to force them out. And the only way we will be able to force them out of Cyprus is if their good relationship with the West is destroyed.

In a few years, Greece will be no where.

Even their strong military will be no more, because they will not be able to afford to purchase the good stuff for many years to come. Greece will weaken, Turkey will get stronger.

Look, I am not advocating that Greece start a war. This is serious.

What I am advocating is for Greece to up the ante a little, and protect its rights like everyone else. Greece is being pushed around by Turkey, and they let Turkey do it.

To up the ante, they could for instance send a warship and fire some rounds across the Pir Reis bow. They are not alone. The Americans, Israelis, Brits are there as well.

This is not a declaration of war against Turkey. Turkey may see it different, but I don't think they have the bollocks to up the ante and declare war against Greece. This will expose the Turks and their antics within the RoC EEZ.

see what i mean, bananiot read the posts, the questions, and the accusations, but instead he opted for the bullshit yet again...i still lay claim to what bananiot reads to what he understands are miles apart...

bananiot has major problems understanding that for turkey to have a hope of joining the EU one day, it's really up to turkey to advance her cause...this begs the question, is turkey today really doing anything to advance her cause?...i don't think so...pick a field where they have changed and not salad dressing...this is regardless of personal feelings...

stick to teaching coz you suck big time when it come to being a private dick...huh, that can't be good for your students...switch to being a fulltime dick...

"Greece will weaken, Turkey will get stronger."

THis is a simplistic interpretation of events. Turkey seems to be getting stronger, but it is a mystery how a nation can be posting continual growth when all its markets are shrinking.

In 1897 Greece was bankrupt and lost a war with Turkey, 15 years later, in 1912 it tore apart the Ottoman Empire. Things are not as obvious as they look.

Turkey is on a power projection trip which will eventually bring it into conflict with other powers in a context which Greece will have no part. When Erdo and Davut dream of reviving the Ottoman empire, a totally silly notion in the 21st century, and of sending their navy to the Indian ocean, then it is obvious that they are on a very strange course. There is no need to follow them in their fantasy.

I wasn't talking about their economic growth Nikitas.

Even during the last 2 decades when Turkey was on its knees and seeking assistance from the IMF, they were spending Billions on arms, whilst most of their population couldn't afford to send their kids to school or buy 'luxury' food items such as meat.

Now that their economy is getting stronger, their defence spending will increase and they will purchase more state of the art weapons and fifth generation aircraft and so on, whilst Greece will not be in a position to keep up in an arms race.

Militarily, Turkey is getting stronger and they will become even more stronger over the coming years. They will dominate Greece in the air and at sea, and this was not the case in the past.

what we have in turkey is cheap labour due to western societies turning to service rather than manufacturing...but as the turkish labour costs increases the contract manufacturing turkey enjoys today will be gone...so success today is dynamic and not static...

this will slow turkey down, but you are right they rather starve the population rather than conform to the norm...
