I came accross this new documentary on google about gas drilling in the USA using a method called fracking with chemicals that get into the water supply.

Yes this fracking is the next big thing in easy and cheap gas energy, but it is very controversial. There are also pilot schemes here in England, around the Blackpool area in the north and anyway who in their right mind would want to live in Blackpool, England.
It's controversial cos it relies on controlled explosions at depth to fracture rocks, creating fissures that allow any gas trapped down there to be funnelled to the surface for collection.
