Christofias approval rating at all time low

According to two qualitative polls brought to light a fortnight ago by Ant1 and Simerini, some 80% of the people showed their disdain for President Christofias in connection with the Mari blast.

Two more recent polls which were carried out before the drilling started, one by AKEL with a sample of more than 2000 people and another for DISY prepared by Stratos Fanaras show that Demetris Christofias is "going downhill" together with his party AKEL.

The poll of AKEL shows that the party is losing almost all its friends who were not in the hard core of the party and is supported by only 21-22% of the electorate.

According to the DISY poll the power of AKEL is kept down to 19%, while DISY gets 32% of the vote.

Politis writes that the vast crater created by the explosion at Mari buried also Demetris Christofias who was the most popular politician in Cyprus during the last decade. — Copyright © Famagusta Gazette 2011

Why is Christofias clinging on to power? What does he hope to achieve? If he think he has the authority to sell a peace deal to the Greek Cypriots he is seriously deluded. He has lost all credibility. How on earth does he believe that a lame duck President is in the interests of the Cypriot people?

Why should he? He's a filthy commie. Compared to Stalin he's innocent.

... and in a possible referendum on a possible settlement negotiated by Pres X sometime next year, will the Good People of the Free Areas vote solely on the referendum or will many see it as a chance to vote on his record, esp vis-a-vis Mari????

No, cos Turkey doesn't want a solution, and it is turkey that is negotiating, right?

Given all this posturing she is doing lately, something will kick off for sure.
