Big Birds

Postby supporttheunderdog » Sat Sep 24, 2011 2:48 pm

Did any one see and/or could they identify the flock of large bird that flew roughly westawards / southwestwards, approximately following the line of the coast, though possibly just a little inland, over Limassol at at 15:15/15:30 today?

There were between fifeteen and twenty of them:I couldn't see them close enough to see colours, beyond being a sort of medium tone rather than dark or light, but they looked to e bird of prey: they had fan tails and large square ended wings, and they were cerrtainly soaring on the few thermals they could find.

Apart from the Griffon Vulture they looked to be about the biggest wild bird I had seen on Cyprus.

(here is a song for "Bird" lovers - "Ornithology" or "Bird Lore" by Charlie "Yardbird" Parker )
