OPEN DISCUSSION ON FRIDAY

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Othellos » Wed Sep 07, 2005 7:21 pm

Empty accusations? Come on Othello. I understand you do not agree with the "promote foreign agendas" part, but it is a fact that many were funded from abroad. I don't think you can deny this.

If you are referring at the UNOPS funding, Piratis, here is a link where they list all the projects they funded:

http://www.unopspmu.org/projects.htm

If you or anyone else have any additional info on the subject, please post.

Now why didn't those foreigners fund Papadopoulos instead? Obviously they funded the ones who their actions served their own interests. And those foreign interests were as it was proven against the interests of the great majority of Greek Cypriots.

If my memory serves me correctly, Piratis, Mrs. Barbaba Lilikas was among those many who applied to UNOPS for funding. And so did mrs Fotini Papadopooulou (Tassos' wife and Red Cross chaiorwoman in cyprus). I guess that at that time, the source of the money made no difference....

Other than that, Piratis, it is Papadopoulos that has a problem with democratic practices in this country, otherwise he wouldn't be looking for ghosts while calling people "traitors". My friendly advise to you is to ensure that you never trap yourself into any similar (and imho stupid) misbehaviour.

Bananiot,

Othellos, I hope you learn your lesson.

What is this lesson am I supposed to be learning now? And btw, why is it so bl**dy impossible to have a normal discussion in here?

Othellos, one thing is to get funding from abroad for the Red Cross and such, and another one to receive funding to support a political campaign.

Do you deny that the Americans funded the "yes" campaign because a "yes" result was the outcome they wanted? (for their own interests of course).

Just read Piratis's responses on the subject of funding (and ELLAS H TEFRA) and tell me if they can contribute to rational debate. I think that you can not instill common sense into arteriosclerotics.

Very interesting, Piratis. Now all you have to do is to provide the necessary evidence for your above allegations. For the record, Papadopoulos was asked repeatedly to do the same but failed to deliver.

P.S: has it ever occured to you that if the Americans were desperate for a "yes" in Cyprus then they wouldn't even ask us for it?

It means that the Americans and the rest of the world can live with our decision to reject the UN plan.

i dont really (until i see real evidence) believe in the accusation that people got money for the yes campaign.

and to be honest, if they really got, it makes me sad not that they took them (this happens all he time) but that someone had to pay (and even worse the americans) for the other opinion to be heard.

bananiot i disaree that piratis and ellas i tefra are familiar.

if i was an american and wanted that "yes" would be voted no matter what, and knowing the mentality of the cypriots, i would have supported the OXI just to cause the opposite response.

did anybody ever consider to whose interest our no in addition to the tc yes is?

I am not a "double agent" to have the evidence. Do you believe that the Americans would not pay anything to have it their way? They do this all the time around the world. Or you don't believe this either? If Cyprus was unstable then the next best thing would be to incite a coup. For anything beyond that they would need an excuse, that fortunately they do not have.

did anybody ever consider to whose interest our no in addition to the tc yes is?

For the interests of those that made the plan. With a "yes" and a "no" they win. With a "yes" and a "yes" they would win even more. As they say "Their game, their rules" how can they lose?
Voting "no" simply meant that we lost less than what we would lose by voting "yes".
