What really is the downside for the EU if Turkey does want to freeze it's relationship with the EU ? It's not as if Turkey is an EU member to have any significant meaning to their so called "threat"!

Cyprus will get the rotating presidency because that is how things work in the EU. The TUrkish threats simply reinforce the will to follow EU procedures to show outsiders that no one dictates to the EU. The rotating presidencey carries its own buraucratic burden and cannot be changed.

The question is elsewhere. Will they have the balls to shut the green line crossings for 6 months and stop the hundreds of EU officials visiting Cyprus from crossing to the occupied areas? Nope, because it is one thing to be self inflated and bombastic and another to have balls to actually carry out threats against entities that are more powerful than yourself.

So they will freeze relations, as if now they are not frozen. Turkey is going down a road of paranoia, has been for some time thanks to the perverted ideas of Davut and the neo ottomans. The world will not change to adapt to a Turkish fantasy. Reality is elsewhere.

You beat me to it, I was thinking exactly the same thing myself.

What is it with Turkey? Why does it keep making threats to all and sundry, does it think it can force its will on the EU as it did on Cyprus. European investors will soon start to vote with their cheque books if Turkey maintains this aggressive and unfriendly stance. Erdo is meeting with Obama next week, I'd love to be a fly on the wall.
