Hi anyone

I am new to this but need some advise/help.......my x husband and I bought a property in cyprus around 7 years ago and we put it in his name.....now we are not together he is now saying that I can not go over there or have any of the flat in the divorse settlement...CAN HE DO THIS?

He is english and I am half cypriot....

Please really need some help on this one...

1 ) Talk to a lawyer in the place where the divorce will be agreed.

2) Tell him in return in writing you want half of everything - more if there are kids.

Thank you for your responce and info...but what I really would like to know is am I intitled to half if it in his name in cyprus....in other words is it the same law in Cyprus as to England as we in the EU now??

In a word YES. If the Court has determined apportionment of property and belongings, the fact that a property is in Cyprus is irrelevant.

Thank you....So if he has changed the locks over there can I get a court order in cyprus to make him give me a key? Or can I do it myself?

You need a court order. if you attempt a breakin he will just call the police.

Once you have the direction from the court apportioning the asset then you can demand it, until then you have nothing.

if he sold it now and blow the moey you will also get nothing from it, so the quicker you get to a lawyer to get this sorted the better.
