The return of Famagusta to its legal owners will trigger developments that most likely will end up to a solution.
After that we have all the time to take gas out...
And what exactly will be the benefit of getting gas out? Some one billion per year as someone said?? Or Cyprus becoming an important Country for the EU just because we supply them with oil? Both are meaningless to me. The former because they will just use the money to finance an even bigger government machine, the latter because it offers no real benefit.
I always supported what is fair. And in my opinion it would be very unfair towards the Kibrislis to reject an offer that would most probably open the way to a solution.
Pyro, I have a lot of respect for you, but this time you are wrong. This will not lead to any solution, because Turkey does not want it. With Famagusta (for the few), we have no leveage. The gas will give us the leverage we need and turkey will not be the bully she is playing as there will be other bigger 'friends' behind us. To date Turkey has done what she wants because we do not have the power to deal with her, the balance is now changing. Once we are established and an EU energy centre, we will have the ability to pick and choose.
I would dear love to see Famagusta back in our hands, but who is going to pay for it, the few thousand inhabitants??? I doubt it. First we need a large revenue stream, then we need protection then we can work on getting the whole of Cyprus back for everyone not just the few Famagustians.
Gas/Oil is what is going to shift the evil axis, Turkey.
