If the Turkish Ottoman military machine has been so great over the past 500 years how does that explain why in the early 17th Century the empire covered much of North Africa and Europe up to the gates of Vienna, where in 1683 they were soundly thrashed, and the Empire fell into a decline, and now has little territory outside of Asia Minor.
let us not also forget the glorious struggle of the Greeks in the 1820's.
Have you forgotten the period 1914-1918 when a few Arabs under a certain TE lawrence drove the Turks out of Arabia and the Levant
Indeed the whole period from 1683 onwards involved mostly military defeats at the hands of the Austrians, The Serbs, etc.
