Turkey will not attack Isreal, it will not attack an American company, so what can it really do? attack Cyprus.

International objections were also heard in 1974, this didn't change the outcome.

This involves American and Israeli interests.
In 74, halloumi was of no interest.

I have a cunning plan for Christofias but he won't listen.

If he puts the talks off for a couple of months until they (as they no doubt will) fail he will gain brownie points in the EU, UN etc for his patience/diplomacy/concession (call it what you like) and he can't be accused of sabotage. Turkey has already had a bollocking from the EU about interfering in something that is not its business. An EU that is happy with Christofias's forbearance will be inclined to give Turkey a double bollocking for the talks failing and its naval presence off Cyprus. Turkish warmongering will scare off European investors, its economy will collapse, it won't be able to afford to prop up the "trnc" and the metmecik will leave Cyprus for good, carpetbaggers and other illegals will shit themselves and piss off too. The EU will rule Cyprus (just like it rules the other members) and Cypriots will live happily ever after.

Am I drunk or dreaming?

Christofias should have taken the chance when he had it, but has blown it yet again. The moment Turkey said she will not goive an inch of land etc etc, he should have stepped back demanding he cannot negotiate with terrorists and call it day until they retracted the comments and apologised.

Somebody needs to explain to me, as I must be thick, how can he be negotioating in good faith, with such threats and continued threats of attack??

Am I missing something here, I mean, seriously. Bu**sh*t aside, does it make any sense?? Can we trust ANYTHING that is agreed to? This is all just a farce, sadly our politicians are not upto the task, hell, vote Kiks in as president......

In my opinion the talks will not yield anything. Christofias is aware of this. However, his love for Cyprus drives him to meet with the barbarians of the mediteranian.

Turkey will threaten but not act on the threats because the US will not allow it as she has some very good interests in oil exploration.

Afraid to say the young TC's who will become more restless as they see their compatriots benefiting from a european life style may revolt and tumble their leadership then and only then will there be a solution.

Interesting revelation in the Cyprus Mail. It seems that the US government is giving full backing to Noble Energy...

Head of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE) Manthos Mavromatis yesterday said the American company was ready to begin drilling despite the threat. Noble presented its plans at a closed gathering on Wednesday organised by KEVE and the Cyprus-American Business Association, in the presence of US Embassy officials.

According to Mavromatis, Noble plans to move the oil rig to Block 12 for drilling after September 20. He noted that Noble is taking into consideration the threats but is proceeding normally in coordination with the US State Department and Embassy here.
