Talat: Turkish Cypriots are in a process of disappearing

CEM BARBER / FG ONLINE • Tue, Aug 30, 2011

The former Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Ali Talat has delivered a broadside at the stance of Dervis Eroglu in the Cyprus talks, saying that the population census announced by the regime is a “misleading effort” to camouflage the inflow of mainland Turks to northern Cyprus.

Mr. Talat told SIM TV that when he was the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community he worked hard at finding a solution adding that migration from the occupied area of Cyprus has started again and noted that the Turkish Cypriots are in a process of disappearing.

Referring to the population census to be held by the breakaway regime, Talat said that “this is unnecessary, meaningless and will have no use”.

He said that those who enter and exit from the occupied area of the island are registered and recalled that a “population census” was held in 2006.

Authorities in the north are preparing to hold a census at the end of November, which will not involve the United Nations.

Talat noted that the announcement of the “government” that it will hold a population census is a “misleading effort aiming at camouflaging the inflow of population”.

Responding to a question on the exploration for oil and natural gas to be carried out by the Republic of Cyprus, Talat argued that the Greek Cypriot side improved its image after the accession of Cyprus into the EU and “became reckless”.

He alleged that with the issue of oil President Christofias is trying get rid of the reaction caused against him due to the “chaos” that exists in the country.

Strange. I don't recall Talat speaking out against Turkish policies in the north while he was "leader" of the puppet regime.

There's no need for the "trnc" to do a Population Census for the north, with or without the UN, since the RoC just did one for them few days ago, indirectly, and the results were, out of 800 people from the north who tried to enter the RoC, ONLY 46 were allowed to come in, and that's because they were TCs, which is 5.75% out of the 800. Therefore, according to Kikapu's calculations, ONLY about 6% of the north's population are TCs and the rest are Illegal Aliens.

Settlers refused entry to RoC....

I don't thinkthat would be precise Kiks given the fact that most of the real Kibrislis are atheists in comparison to the settlers.
Secondly real Kibrislis cross every day I bet most of them have visited the tekke tens of times.

Hermes to the credit of Talat he repeated the same thing (i.e that the Kibrislis are in the process of disappearing) when he was on power.

This answers my long pending question in this forum.
So it will not be under UN or EU supervision. Another USELESS census i.e. :o

You are correct on both points, Pyro, no matter how contradictory your points may appear to be to each other.

I personally love visiting ALL places of worship of any denomination and show a lot of respect to them too, but remain a non believer (heathen) all the same. :D

Anyway, my calculations were not a scientific one in nature, but rather it was more or less done with "tongue and cheek"! 8)

LOL it took me a while to spot the contradiction Kiks, even after you mentioned it. Alzheimer is coming to me I think
On the other hand all indications are that the settlers are a majority today propably on a 53-47% ratio to the real Kibrislis.

As for religion I am also an infidel as can be verified from here

Am I sure about what?

I used the figures from an incident regarding those who were refused entry into the RoC and those who were not. It just so happened, that there were 94.25% more settlers amongst those who tried to cross than there were TCs at 5.75%. My interpretation of the numbers to mean the overall percentages between the TCs and the settlers in the north was meant to be a light hearted humour and fun, which seems to have missed the point and had gone over every one's head instead! :o   :D
