Is anyone here Pro-separation?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Is anyone here Pro-separation?

Postby Khan » Wed Aug 31, 2005 12:28 am

I know we discuss cause of Cyprus problem and solutions alot, but does anyone actually prefer separation to unification? I have thought of unification in the past, but the more i think about it i really cannot imagine living as a minority under GC.

There are those GC who i have met outside of Cyprus and have a good laugh with, very nice people, culturally i felt closer to them than my English friends whom i've grown up with. But there are also those GC who store a lot of resentment towards Turks in general. Its these people who invoke the argument that Turks do not belong in Cyprus much like Jewish people claim Israel is their God given right.

I honestly believe that under a unified state, TC would be second class citizens. Not just demographically, but also in the mentality of those GC who see Cyprus as Greek, and Turks as invaders. I guess I am the result of 30 years of separation, and when you've had your own country for this long, you cannot imagine it any other way, i certainly cant.

Much like their good friend Israel, Turkey has invaded and taken land that doesn not belong to them and dumped it's own settlers there.

If seperation did happen...the simple fact, as i see it, would be that the GCs eventually would overrun the TC state, because they ahve more money, are more in number, and feel that Right of Return is essential, plus the fact they could exploit EU freedom of movement laws, and ECHR.

Even if the government didnt allow them(GCs) to be citizens, if the Northern state were to join the EU(which i think it realistically would) then they would be stuffed, as they could not have any special requirements for population demographics etc.

How are you going to ask a question like that when your seperating something that doesnt even belong to you , that is typical of the Turkish menatality. Ye i agree to seperation if you all go back to Turkey!!!!

I said parts of Turkey belong to Greece not all , read history you might be suprised by the truth (not your history books) there a little maipulated and twisted. Hey ill take seperation over living with the likes of you, and please dont use the word peace based on the Turkish armies presence in north Cyprus , you really dont believe your own bullshit do you?

And I really hope Turkey is excluded from the EU then maybe all your hopes and dreams of financial prosperity come to a screeching hault and your country gets broken into pieces from internal conflicts"/wish :)

Look into your future your greatest allies will become your worst enemies OH THE DAY.

You never had your own country. What you have is the illegal occupation of part of Republic of Cyprus. But I can understand what you mean. It is for the same reason that criminals keep committing crimes. Crime is apparently addictive, especially when you think you can get away with it.

However you should not expect from us to gift to you our land. If you want peace then you better get unused to what you got used.

Man wake up, although we do desire a solution once and for all confirmed by 65% of TCs when asked, you have to come to terms with the issue that our current situation is not as bad as you want to make out it is, deal with it, as long as there is no solution the TRNC will be your neighbour forever, the sun will rise and we will go to the beach and eat kebabs on sunday. Unless of course as you say the power swings in your favour but as I said before we are willing to wait, recognition may also rear its head by the time to obtain the power to rid yourselves of the TRNC.
