Hundreds of female Syrian refugees have been raped in a camp in southern Turkey and have been forced into prostitution, a report says.

Some 400 Syrian women in Boynuyogun camp in the southern Turkish province of Hatay were forced to work as sex workers, Turkish newspaper Aydinlik has reported.

The scandal was disclosed after some 250 of the raped women obtained a positive result on their pregnancy test.

Abdo Aslaner, the owner of the land where the camp is set up, supported by the security personnel and officials of the camp, took the female Syrian refugees out of the camp and forced them into prostitution, according to the report.

Turkish police has raided the office of leading newspaper Aydinlik, well-known for its impartial coverage of the ongoing events in Syria.

During the raid, the police arrested the wife and the son of Dogu Perincek, with the newspaper and the leader of the Turkish Workers' Party who is currently in detention, IRIB reported.

The newspaper, which is the official paper of the Turkish Workers' Party, has stated that the reason behind the detentions is the reportages covering the current events in Syria.

The police also launched widespread probes in the offices of the party.

Earlier, the Aydinlik newspaper exposed the scandal taking place in the Boynuyogun refugee camp in southern Turkish province of Hatay, where some 400 Syrian women were forced to work as sex slaves.

The newspaper also reported that many of the Syrians who fled to Turkey had been promised financial support upon their arrival. However, they found no traces of the financial support they had been promised once they arrived in Turkey. Therefore, many of them returned to their homes in Syria.

What load of B****cks from Kikapu again. You are quoting from a Press TV (Iranian) which is nothing more than an asparagus news channel (predominantly anti Turkish) who claim this event as being reported in local minor "Aydınlar" newspaper! I have gone through the archives of this newspaper ON 9th OF AUGUST! the original news is displayed on this page then was:
http://www.aydinlikgazete.com/index.php ... &Itemid=95

There is no evidence no names of any source, cleverly covered by quoting "an unnamed source", "a source who did not want his ID known", "a source who cannot be named due to security reasons" etc. The story then talks about a Syrian woman and her two daughters who spend the whole day fornicating with the guy who owned the land where the camp was based. When he asked the women to do the same thing with his two friends next day - he was badly beaten by the camp residents"

There is nothing about the raped women being raped by "security personnel" or "the officials" at the camp - proves this to be adultered news by some Turk hating Islamist Iranians. Note also that the paper reported this back on 9th of August, and the Iranian Press TV decides to make news of it 2 weeks later! The truth is - these women could not have returned to Syria "when things got normal" because on the 9th of August and many days after NOTHING HAD YET RETURNED TO NORMAL! What a load of Bull***t!

Re KirliKapu, since when have you become the supporter of the islamic dictators in Iran? I can only laugh at you and any idiot who takes your posts seriously!

I didn't write the articles, so why "shoot the messenger", just because the story does not sit well with you.

Have you contacted the PRESS TV to voice your anger by any chance?

You think such incidence could never happen, is that it?

How often the UN personel were accused of raping women in various refugee camps set up in various countries in Africa in the last 20 years or so.

Get a reality check, will you.

I thought Iran and Turkey were like "two peas in a pod", given how much Turkey has cosied up to the Islamic radicals of Iran by the Islamist Erdogan's government, so I don't know why you think that PRESS TV is some kind of a Turk hating Islamic group. How do you explain that ?

I don't see the relevance as to why PRESS TV took additional 2 weeks to make their report from the original report by Aydınlar newspaper. Perhaps they took their time to gather more supporting evidence before going public with it, like what all responsible news outlets ought to do. I don't know where all the truth lies, but I can't imagine it's because PRTESS TV is an Islamic nutcases. I mean, are they not the friends of the Erdogan's Islamic nutcases whom you support so much.

And, no, I do not support any Islamic dictators, or any Fascist Regimes, or any Racist Regimes, or any Human Rights violating Regimes, or any International law violating Regimes. :D

You on the other hand, live in the "trnc". Go figure.

Ankara reacts quickly to Syrian reports of rape in Turkish refugee camps

21 September 2011, Wednesday / TODAY'S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL

The Turkish capital has harshly rejected a report released by Syrian official news agency SANA that claims camps in Turkey's border province of Hatay, set up for Syrians fleeing their country, have turned into “detention centers of rape and torture.”

SANA reported on Tuesday that “Turkish camps have become detention centers for rape and torture as Syrian women who returned to their homes stressed they were the victims of rape by armed terrorist groups and some Turkish people.”

The Turkish Foreign Ministry's reaction was swift, releasing a written statement to rebuff the report late the same day. “If black propaganda, lies and demons are being looked for, the message given by this report is an unprecedented example,” the ministry said.

“People who have been in the camps in Turkey have taken shelter in Turkey because of bad experiences and fears they experienced in Syria, of which they are citizens,” the ministry's statement continued, underlining that it was the Syrian government's responsibility to eliminate the reasons leading its citizens to flee their country.

Both UN bodies and officials from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent have confirmed on several occasions that authorities in Hatay, where Syrian refugee settlements have been operating for months, have been working to fulfill their responsibilities in the best way possible, the statement said.

The ministry indicated that although Turkish officials have so far received no complaints regarding this issue, relevant authorities will investigate the claims contained within the report by SANA.

As part of this investigation, Turkey officially asked the Syrian Foreign Ministry and the Syrian Department of Immigration to identify the people whose names were cited within the SANA report. Turkey also asked Syria to arrange an interview between Turkish officials from the Turkish Embassy in Damascus with the Turkish Consulate General in Aleppo and “Miss Fatima,” who told SANA she was raped while in a camp in Turkey.

“We wish that the same kind of sensitivity will be shown by Syrian authorities on a lot of claims concerning the developments inside Syria,” the ministry's statement concluded.

In New York, speaking to reporters following a meeting with US President Barack Obama early Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Syria has launched a “black propaganda” campaign against Turkey. Without elaborating on the content of the report by SANA, Erdoğan said he would soon visit the camps in Hatay where Syrians have taken shelter.

The Syrian woman who spoke to SANA was identified only by her first name, Fatima. She claimed that “over 70 young girls have been raped at Turkish camps and have been the subject of all sorts of oppression.”
