I got a mobile with the Android OS and I have been using the Android Market to download some apps. My mobile came with Google Maps but I wanted to get the latest version (because it supports offline maps). But Google Maps did not appear on my mobile when I was searching the market from the mobile and when I searched from my computer I got the note that it was incompatible with my mobile because "This item cannot be installed in your device's country." ( https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... .apps.maps ) The same is the case with some other Google Apps such as Youtube! Now why would the latest Google Maps or Youtube apps not be available for Cyprus???? Any other Android users in Cyprus having this issue ... or there is something wrong with my device... I had to factory reset it and I wonder if this is what caused the problem. I have since installed the latest version of Google Maps by manually downloading it but I still want to know if this is a general problem in Cyprus or if there is something wrong with my mobile

I have Android phone and I didn't have this problem. My phone has google maps and when I go to that link I don't see any note.

Seems like common issue as there are many forums flooded with same issue details.

I wonder why this is an issue since Cyprus is listed as one of the countries from where you can buy paid Android apps. At least directly downloading the apk file seems to work.

As per some of forum details, it has nothing to do with App but setting done whiie uploading Apps to market.

I never face issue downloading Apps directly on my mobile using wi-fi , but not able to access some of Apps using PC.

When you search Android market from your phone for "Google Maps" does it give the option to download the latest version? In my case when I searched the Android market from the phone the Google Maps app was not displayed, and when I search from my computer it got the "This item cannot be installed in your device's country" message.

Reason that you dont get some apps in market (using phone) due to "country" setting in market (Just echoing the explaination given in google forum) and thats why you get message while using PC.

But I found some apps giving error message using PC can be istalled using "HTC likes" "HTC Hub" (Same like market but from HTC) directly in mobile.

Try checking equivalent option in your handset.

Samsung Apps doesn't seem to have Google Maps. So installing it manually like I did seems to be the only option.

It won't work if it's Nokia because they accepted the Turkish demands to block Cyprus, as discussed in a previous thread. cyprus32286.html
