Philistine! You have no taste! With the possible exception of Belgium, Britain has one of widest varieties of beers of excellent quality in the World , with a vast range of flavours. Not all British beer is good - I can recall Watney's Red Barrel and Ind Coope "Long Life" to name but two best forgotten,

More than cen be said for Cyprus - nothing wrong with Keo or Leon - I'll happliy drink either - but only TWO local beers??

(carlsberg does not count, being a Danish beer brewed under license)

I will name a few: Everards, Old Speckled Hen, London Pride, Bombardier, Newcastle Brown Ale.

There you gan bonny lad - Everards, Old Speckled Hen, London Pride, Bombardier, Newcastle Brown Ale, a list of some of the best beers in the world - mind I find "Jawnee in ter spayce" a bit sweet - in the broons I prefered "Double"but which ever I wer suppin' wi' wor marrers it wor a big bottle an' a small glass. That wor a canny pint that one as change from bitter.

Ha way! Firstly I thought you said you did not think, early in this thread, or were you being rude to that very thoughtful person, Figgy?

However even if you are capable of thought you are wrong, again, on both counts!.

As for what you thing of as good beer, would you enlighten us?

As it is Everard's Tiger, for example is just as Alcoholic as say Keo at 4.5% ABV while Dog and Pride weigh in at 4.7% .
Then we move on to one or two you do not list - Shepherd Neam Bishop's Finger at 5% or ESB for example at 5.5%, stonger by some degree that Keo, or do you count Keo as a Pissbeer?

As for flavour I dont know what you are looking for but I quite like something reasonably well hopped - compared to say Keo which is a pleasant enough Pilsner styled Lager - as drinkable as any, more drinkable then many - but which is only lightly hopped. I usually avoid the cheaper tinned so-called lagers sold in many supermarkets which are simply harsh on the mouth.

I also like some of the Belgian beers - the Trappiste / Abbey Style Beers, etc, while some of the products of the some of the boutique brewerys in the USA , such as Anchor Steam, are well worth drinking.

So tell me, what sort of beers do you like or is your list simpy a sign of vtrollishness in you?

And by the way I am stone cold sober!

 Are you on the piss?

I prefer German or Dutch beers, like Heineken, Amstel, Grolsch, Beck's, Warsteiner, Löwenbräu, Krombacher, Veltins, Paulaner. :D

I'm sorry but I honestly don't like any English beer brand. Or Irish! Or Italian (Moretti) :( Or American, except maybe Budweiser (classic)

I also like Carlsberg and Corona (although it's very light). :D

And yes I don't like KEO. If it wasn't for CBBB they would be bankrupt by now.

Am I on the Piss? No ....but I might be taking the piss.

I normally now seldom drink more than a about a pint a day (or one 500ml tin) rarely two - occasionaly some wine but seldom any spirits. At one time it was a lot more, but now I am out of practice.

I am not going to denigrate your taste as the beers you list are all very pleasant lager type beers, most of which I have enjoyed at one time or another, though of those listed I don't know Paulaner. Do you prefer the helles (the eg Pilsner style of pale lager) or the Dunkel (traditional Bavarian Style pre-1840 dark lagers)?

I have the advantage that I can enjoy both the lager style of beer or the British Ale Styles, though my preference is definetely for the tradional ale style of British Beers, the non-pressuried cask type rather than the keg style.

Perhaps your dislike of Keo is related to the fact that it is described by some as having a sweetness of honey that would appeal to Ale Drinkers.

What ever you chose, Enjoy.

I have spoken to some British friends and they assure me they like ALL other nations - without exception.

Well, not the Germans because of WW2 and that applies to the Italians too. And wasn't Spain's General Franko pro- Nazi and, of course, Portugal is much like Spain. As for the French, not much use as allies as they surerndered after a week and then actually fought the British under Marshall Petain.

All Irish people are members of the IRA (Irish Republican Army) who murdered brave British soldiers.

The Britsh know that all Eastern Europeans are 'Russian' (LOL) who are all fat Oligarchs with their over-fed mistresses.

The American military took advantage of the British women during WW2 while their husbands were fighting for world freedom in mainland Europe.

The Greeks are Ok but you can never understand a word they say, they put too much oil on their food and play that dreadful wailing music.

Of course the Brits never actually forgave Attaturk and his thugs for the defeat at Galipolli - the Turks were outnumbered 3-1 and should have had the decency to lose the battle.

Then there is Cyprus; a land full of EOKA terrorists - and Israel wa s reall pain in 1948 when the State of Israel was founded.

The inhabitants of Africa are pretty useless; too many children and cant raise a decent soccer team between them.

It's a well known fact that all Arabs can't be trusted.

Australia is inhabited by descendents of sheep stealers etc.

All in all, the world has not been kind to Britain but at least they like South America (wherever that is) - except of course for those damned Argies attempting to steal the falkland Island a few years back and then there's the....
