You have obviously already been poisoned, but it just affected your mind and not your body.

You are entitled to your opinion dont make it right.

Or yours.

Where did I ever claim that? only Kikapu claims that he is 100% right all the time.

I wouldn't give him 100%, but 99% yes.

You are right to be cautious. We first have to determine the extent of any reserves and then the best way to exploit any reserves that are found. That is why we have done things legally through determining our EEZs with our neighbors, and discussing with our potential partners, the Israelis, Greece, the EU and the US, how best to proceed. We're looking at beginning to exploit any reserves in around 3-5 years.

So things are proceeding nicely. Turkey's threats are falling on deaf ears. Its influence in the region has been undermined. And new strategic alliances, which favour Cyprus, have emerged. Meanwhile Turkey has yet to sign the Law of the Sea and has no legal basis for determining its own EEZ in the region.

So no chickens yet. But a lot of positive signs.

Point taken but i always believe in results, its is your right to rejoice when or if the natural resources actually materialize but for now these talks are all speculation and theres nothing concrete that can support the GC economy.

There is the EU, if we need it.

The Cyprus economy is fairly sound and likely won't need a bail-out. If things deteriorated the EU will come to our aid. The money involved is small in comparison.

Any benefits to the economy from potential energy reserves are a long-term issue. But these are serious benefits that would transform the Cypriot economy. We are talking about a boost to shipping, energy and financial sectors. If things go to plan then investment should flow into the country and the government's coffers.

The other benefit is strategic. Alliances have already shifted with Israel, the US and the EU lining up against Turkey's claims to the resources in the area.

As you quite rightly state these are all long term potential benefit but will do nothing to bring the two sides together add to this Turkeys + TRNC natural resources exploration we have stale mate once again....the only thing we can guarantee in our life times anyway is the current situation will remain.
