Are people going or staying for August?

Postby bizzybabe » Thu Aug 04, 2011 12:08 pm

Speaking to the people in my area and my business contacts it seems this year people are planning to save the pennies by not going away in August and not closing down the business?

seems perhaps cyprus will not be deserted this august after all!

It's been almost deserted here in Switzerland for the past few weeks. Then again, with the strength of the Swiss Franc, it's cheaper to go abroad for a little R&R than stay at home! :D

We decided not to go abroad this year but I will definitely not work during the whole August ;) But I was reading somewhere sometime ago that more Cypriots are going abroad this summer.

They have gone to mainland Europe to buy electrical appliances with dodgy 2-pin plugs!

Looks to me like the CF has gone on vacation - very quiet here, but not as quiet a 3CF - looks like only 5 posts since last week - may be they got their heads down because of Gary Robber.

I am in Sri Lanka recovering from the Train Journey from Hell; could not get a ticket on the 'inter city' train from Kandy to Colombo (2 1/2 hours) so had to catch the stopping train (4 hours!). Bought 2nd Class ticket but no seats, so sat in 3rd Class which provided a level of physical intimacy I had not experienced before!

Fascinating experience, with food vendors and beggars walking up and down the train (where possible!!!) people clinging to the outside of the train and all doors open always - maybe the Health and Safety notices were in Sinhalese as i did not spot them ;-)
