British usurper of GC Properties in north Cyprus arrested

Postby Sotos » Wed Aug 03, 2011 4:42 pm

British man suspected of usurping Greek Cypriot properties, occupied since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974,will be extradited to Cyprus today.
The Cyprus News Agency reports the unnamed 48-year-old suspect will be brought before Nicosia District Court on Thursday.
Police Spokesman Michalis Katsounotos said that the suspect, who was arrested under a European Arrest Warrant issued by Cypriot authorities, will be handed over to Cyprus Police officers.
The officers are already in London after a decision was taken by the British authorities to extradite the man in relation to a case of usurpation of Greek Cypriot properties in Cyprus’ Turkish occupied areas.
Katsounotos said the British national was suspected of conspiracy to commit felony and misdemeanour, illegal possession, distribution and use of property belonging to another person, in addition to obtaining money by false representations and other similar offences relating to illegal exploitation of Greek Cypriot properties located in northern Cyprus.
He added that these offences were committed during 2004 and 2005 at the occupied village of Klepini in Kyrenia district.
Katsounotos confirmed that the suspect will be brought before Nicosia District court on Thursday for a remand order so that he is questioned by police and a file case is completed to be handed over to the Attorney General, who will give his final opinion on this case.
He said this is the first time such a case is brought before justice.

Must be many more out there, Turks and Brits, who've committed similar offenses. The list must be a bloody long one...

Would be very , very pleasing to see a few of the Scumbaggers dragged before the Courts of the Republic.

Indeed of the opinion that as the Robb trial progresses others will be named who were involved in this network of thievery, from pimpish lawyers and estate agents down to the Immoral Cheapskate Gamblers, all thieving opportunists who tried to take advantage of the misery of others.

... and it will be very difficult for the prosecution authorities of the Republic to resist calls that a few of these others are also prosecuted.

What about this looser, Asil Nadir. If he escapes justice in the UK, his next court appointment may well be in the RoC. I'm sure he regrets going to the UK now.

This is very pleasing news but that goes without saying. But I want justice on all petty criminals on the land issue no matter the ehtnicity. This issue of property theft is costing the country lots of money through losing face in the eys of the international community.

Nevertheless this is a positive step!

The ROC police could easily put the squeeze on the carpetbaggers that come south for shopping or to use the airports by asking for their address in the north (and UK if they have one) and insisting that they will need to show documentary proof of property title next time they cross.

It won't happen of course because too many business men in the ROC think more of their fat wallets than they do of justice for Cypriots.
