General guide... west of the island around Paphos for older people... East of the island around Agia Napa and Protaras for younger people and families.

Depends what you're after. Paphos is a bit tacky for some tastes. It doesn't seem to bother the English though.

Personally I'd give the town of Paphos a wide berth.

Both can be a bit tacky... particularly if one steps in a pile of puke left by a Drunken Brit!!!

Very true. Last time I visited Protaras I couldn't help but notice how downmarket it had become. If it's a choice between the two - paphos or protaras - I'd choose the East coast because the beaches are nicer especially around Paralimni.

Perhaps the the best five star hotels, fine resturants, cafes, beaches, night life, fantastic water park, excellent shopping, ice skating rink. Hmmm did I miss anything?

Maybe because of the central location close to Troodos, Larnaca, Nicosia and if you must Paphos. Stay clear of little England (Paphos). It's been turned into an over developed gutter with no decent beaches. Protaras used to be nice, but not a lot to do besides get drunk on that side of the island.

Limassol is your best bet.

just go to Spain,Portugal Balearics,Tenerife, CLEANER,CHEAPER,less RUSSIANS,fewer non European (i'll do that for 2 euro an hr),and real roads,
really don't know why i been here 10yrs?

well upon the subject i prefer pafos as i am from it it has some nice resorts and if you go to the right places agios georgios beach or even further like poli you will find some nice beaches and peace of mind and keep in mind that pafos is near troodos too if you want some trips to the mountains
