Turkey's Foreign trade deficit soars by 79.2 percent in June

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

No one can fault these workers for demanding more money for the work they do, because it is expensive to live in Turkey, for developing country acting as if it is a rich country. The only problem these workers face in getting more money is that there are many unemployed Turks who are ready to take their places at the current wages, or even less, and for the foreign car companies (or any other industry owned by foreign countries) they will just pack-up and go to other cheap labour countries, which the world is full of them rather than pay much more money to the workers in Turkey. In effect, they are telling the Turkish workers just like what Erdogan tells them, "know your place or else”. Of course, the Turkish government would also not support these foreign companies paying more money to the workers at the risk of losing them to other countries.

In Turkey, unless one works for the state, which is 5 days a week, ALL others work 6 days a week, as much as 60 hours a week with very little benefits. The quality of life in Turkey is very hard to come by to the average Turks.

Agreed but it's a poke in the eye for sultan Erdogan and his oppressive state. Strikes like these may deter foreign investment and have a detrimental effect on the economy. Sooner or later Turkey may have to come to terms with the fact that cannot afford to subsidise the "trnc" in the way it does.

This is what Nikitas and I have been saying for a while.

Basically, Turkey does not have an educated workforce.

Turkey has so many young people, but lacking talent.

Turkey second worst performer of Europe, Central Asia in human capital index

Turkey has regressed eight places in the latest Human Capital Index of the World Economic Forum (WEF). It now ranks 68 out of 124 countries and is the second worst in Europe, after Moldova, and Central Asia.

Among countries in Europe and Central Asia, Turkey and Moldova, 71, hold the last spots in the region, according to the WEF’s 2015 Human Capital Report.

“The bottom-ranked countries in the region are Moldova and Turkey, which exhibits a low labor force participation rate for its 25–54 prime working age group, despite strong tertiary and vocational enrolment rate among its 15–24 age group,” said the report.

Finland, Norway and Switzerland are the best performing countries of the region and overall, while Canada, Japan and Sweden rank next best on the index.

“Finland benefits from a well-educated young population with the second best basic education survival rate and the highest score for the quality of primary schools. Its 25–54 age group core working population shows the highest tertiary educational attainment rate in the Europe and Central Asia region but also second best overall in the world,” said the report.

Turkey ranked 61 in terms of human capital development below the age of 15, while it ranked 50 for 15-24 age group, and 77 for its 25-54 age group. Turkey also ranked 78 for its 55-64 age group and 70 in the category of those over 65.

With its per capita income at around $10,000 a year, Turkey is among the upper-middle income group on the index, which comprises countries with a gross domestic product per capita between $4,126 and $12,745.

Talent, not capital, will be the key factor linking innovation, competitiveness and growth in the 21st century, the Human Capital Report said.

The Human Capital Index ranks 124 countries on how well they are developing and deploying their human capital, focusing on education, skills and employment, while aiming to understand whether countries are wasting or leveraging their human potential.

According to the report, fulfilling peoples’ potential could boost global GDP by 20 percent.

So what you are saying is, Lordo, that in Turkey, the uneducated are given jobs and the educated are staying home without jobs.

So what does this tell us?

1. Turkey is not an innovated country requiring educated skilled workforce.
2. There's no point in going to University in Turkey if a degree is not worth anything, except it will keep delay the student from forcible enrolment into the military.
3. People only go to Universities in Turkey just for prestige purpose and not for education if their degrees cannot get them jobs in Turkey and can only land them jobs in a Kebab House in the EU. Why can’t these educated people make Kebabs in Turkey instead?
4. Uneducated in Turkey does better in getting work than the so-called University educated. In another words, jobs nobody else wants, especially by those University educated living off their parents, rather than work.

If the above were not bad enough, Erdogan wants families to have more than 3 children to increase the population of Turkey, just so to multiply the problems even more. Must be some sick joke, no?
