Erdogan attended a ceremony for an Olympic youth festival in Turkey organised by the European Olympic Committee. One of the participants was the state of Cyprus. There was no state called the "TRNC" present because no such state apparently exists....

"The state of 'Cyprus' exists!"

Under the above title, Turkish Cypriot daily Yeni Duzen (25.07.11) reports that the 11th European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) is hosted in Trabzon by Turkey. The paper notes that Turkey's Prime Minister, who during his illegal visit in the occupied area of Cyprus stated that "there is no state named Cyprus," attended the opening ceremony. During the ceremony, young athletes from the 49 participating countries entered the stadium, including Cyprus. The paper notes that EYOF 2011, which are organized by the European Olympic Committee are the first games of Olympic level that Turkey organizes and writes that once again the games revealed the international reality that "TRNC" is a "state" recognized only by Turkey, since it is not participating in the games but the Republic of Cyprus does.

Well of course Cyprus exists, and not because the whole world says it exists, but Turkey says it also through her actions. The fact that Turkey has her Embassy on Cyprus territory proves that point. The whole island is the RoC after all, says the UN and the EU, so what is the question again.? Ah, yes. Turkey says that Cyprus does not exists, but does Turkey know that they have a Turkish Embassy on RoC's soil.?

And btw, if that wasn't obvious enough, Turkey also recognized Cyprus all the way through the 1963 troubles, the '67 troubles and finally the '74 troubles. Only after Turkey invaded in '74 she decided not to recognize Cyprus, but still has Embassy on Cypriot soil. Go figure.

Oh, just one more thing. The fact that majority of TCs have passports issued by the RoC which makes them EU citizens, is also a proof that Cyprus exists.

Well 26 other memebers of the EU say that Cyprus exists and 184 other countries worldwide recognise us.

Turkey is just plain stupid, playing childish games with peoples lives. In the end she is going to become unstuck to the detriment of her own citizens in Turkey.

Not that I give a stuff about that, but it just highlights the stupidity of this whole boisterous posturing and playing the big I am.

Cyprus exists and has always existed and Erdogan can play any childish games he likes with his big man threats. I think the EU has finally seen Turkey for the barbaric nation that it is. Now we need Mr Christofias to tell the EU how little support they have been for the smaller Island nation currently under Turkish occupation and the violation of human rights by Turkey.

Under no circumstances should a Country which illegally occupies and denies peoples their human rights should even be considered in joining the EU. Mr Christofias needs to bring this detail to the EU table. And tough tities the EU knew of the situation prior to accepting Cypriot membership .... now they have to deal with the facts and bring back an equilibrium in the EU Family.

Yes well that 183 more than recognise the so-called TRNC- perhaps they recognise it for what it is - a sham created by the invading Turks.
