I'd like to rent an apartment (preferably) near the University of Nicosia and am looking for someone to search with and rent with possibly. My semester starts in October but I'd like to try and rent beforehand so there will be cheaper rent (as I am told, it's cheaper to rent in summer)

I saw some decent apartments and was hoping to find roommates to share the apartment with. I am open to pets so if you have any, that's great or I might get one.

I am also considering renting a little out side of the city (in one of the villages such as Deftera) as there is not much traffic to reach the university even though it is a bit further out and the rent should be cheaper as it is not in the city.

I do not mind unfurnished apartments as I can find furniture or just make something on my own.

I am not willing to spend more than 300 Euros on rent and common expenses included for a room.

If I were in your position I would have rented an apartment near the Uni and not in Deftera area.
As you are trying to minimize the cost you will maximize it by paying more in fuel. Most of the times uni classes are daily and in some cases you have to go in the morning and in the afternoon so this is around 40km per day. and that's around 4 euros in fuel daily. also in a few weeks time you will feel it's a nightmare to go to uni from Deftera and you probably miss classes etc.
Try to find something in Makedonitissa area which you wouldn't even have to drive. Or try Engomi and even Ayios Dometios. Shops, cafes, etc are around there and it's 5-10 minutes from town center

Last year I stayed in Strovolos and even though I found cheap rent, I had a nightmare to get to school on some days, I hate being stuck in traffic. Sometimes it would take 30 mins to school. So I thought by being in a village on the outskirts it would be easier as there is not as much traffic coming in. But I will look into those areas as well! Thanks for the input.

Also everything that I have seen near the college is really expensive or it's decent but I'd need to find people to share with and I'm having a hard time with that. Most people I know are living somewhere already and not looking.
And I wouldn't know where to look for just rooms that are being rented out. I tried a bunch of sites online but nothing is within my budget or area.
