Don't weep for her - weep for the 16 year old boys who signed up for WWI to fight for their countries and died without knowing the love of a woman; weep for the young mothers who die of cancer; weep for the children whose innocence is taken; weep for the old who die alone because their families can't be bothered with them.

Brilliant post!

She was extremely talented (I love her music) but chose to destroy herself with drugs and booze. Nobody forced her to do so... It was her choice and this is the inevitable outcome.

No one chooses to become an alcoholic or a drug addict. Alcoholism and drug addiction is a disease just like cancer. If treated it can me sometimes be managed, if not it will ultimately kill you.

Did anybody tie her down and force her to take drugs? No.

It was her choice to take them and continue to take them long after it was clear that they would kill her. She also had the cash to get best treatment available anywhere if she had wanted to do so...

No one forced her to drink those silly amount of alcohol, no one forced her to stick cocaine up her nose...

She isnt even worth the sympathy , sad she was talented but on a human level she is worth nothing

On a 'human level' the parents are going to their daughters funeral. Obviously 'addiction' is an unbreakable chain. AW was too weak, and her associates were no help either.

For addicts and alcoholics it's as if someone is forcing them into this destructive behavior. I suppose I pity her because I can relate to her. I've been there and I guarantee you once you've got a monkey like that on your back it's not just a matter of quitting. If you want to know more sit in on an open NA or AA meeting. I'm one of the lucky ones. 18 years clean and sober. Of course I weep for the vets, the old, the naive, etc. but I also feel for her and her family. Just imagine if it were your daughter! Would you feel the same?

I repeat, nobody forced her... It was her personal choice... She invited the monkey onto her back as you put it...

Well done you for kicking your habit - I'm guessing you managed to do so without access to the best clinics that the world could offer or money could buy?

She had talent and opportunity that millions will envy - and she threw it away.

How sad that any one deserves to die. She was a troubled young women and as such could not help herself, she was beyond that. Maybe the blame is with society for not helping others in need and turning there backs on the needy, even if they are rich. Do you all really think she wanted to be as she is?? your very naive if you think that it is easy to get out of such a rut. It is a known fact that most addicts never ever ever come back to reality, so lets blame the people out there that thrive on there desperation by selling them the drugs in the first place, for they are the wicked ones, she was just a lady who had lost her way and she needed every ones help.

This 'Celebrity' was all too common a bad influence on the young and impressionable, instead of mourning her departure, observers throughout the domain of those who admired her (so she could sing ?) should consider her disgusting behaviour both on and off stage, with added resolve to avoid copying (or allowing their offspring to copy) any of it.

I stand by my first comments, this person was a disgrace to ANY nation and any influence she DID have was a negative one. (imho)

Drug dealers don't create demand... Drug dealers merely fulfil a market opportunity. If the likes of Winehouse and others didn't demand recreational drugs the market would collapse.

I don't think she deserved to die. But she chose to take whatever drugs she was on and she alone chose to continue taking them beyond the recreational stage and into a sad, ultimately fatal addiction.

She was brilliantly talented and had many, many opportunities to get whatever help and support she needed to kick her habit. Many others have done so.

What a shame! Seems like some people like giving a kick to those who have fallen by the way-side. What future does humanity have. At least the youngsters might see what dabbling with these substances can do. As far as I am concerned, tobacco and alcohol abusers are no better. How many of those can kick the habit once the rot has set in.

RIP Amy.
