Afrika is reporting that the chap in charge of the "police" who roughed up the CY protesters was our old "friend", Erdal Emanet...

Yenidüzen writes: “Police attacked the protestors without any reason,” where as Afrika insists that the person who is the main responsible for the police violence is the new Nicosia ‘police Chief’ Erdal Emanet, the man who is suspected of killing Greek Cypriot Solomos Solomou at Dherinya in 1996.

More on the occupation regime's attempts to stifle T/C protests:

The occupation regime attacked protesters against Erdogan's visit

Turkish Cypriot daily Afrika newspaper (20.07.11) reports that the occupation regime turned all its security forces yesterday against the activists who were protesting for the illegal visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the occupied area of Cyprus in order to participate in the celebrations on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the 1974 Turkish invasion in Cyprus. Under the front-page titles: "Hit me, I will not die" and "The malice of imam" it refers to three incidents which happened yesterday.

According to the paper, the "police", who were given the order not to permit any protesting demonstration or banners, attempted to bring down a banner hanged at KTAMS trade union's headquarters. The banner was saying the following: "You give us one and take five from us, and without being ashamed you say that you feed us". The activists did not allow the "police" to take the banner. The "police" obtained a 'search warrant" from the "court" and confiscated the banner.

The second incident happened at the Hamid Mandres roundabout where the Trade Unions Platform was planning a demonstration. The paper reports that the "police" clashed with the gathered people using globs, shields and pepper spray and did not allow them to approach the roundabout. Also the "police" turned a blind eye to an attack the protesters faced by a fascist nationalistic group, during which the paper's correspondent was injured.

The third incident took place in front of the former Cyprus Turkish Airlines building, where the "police" attacked the demonstration tent of Hava-Sen. In their effort to confiscate the protest banners that were inside the tent, serious brawl took place. Injured protesters had to be transported to the hospital by ambulance, as well as a "policeman". The paper notes that the violence used by the "police" was instructed by Erdal Emanet, suspect for the murder of Solomou, was recently reappointed in Lefkosia's "police".

...thousand at least or more from these photos and the video link, i did not see one flag white with a red crescent
i saw the turkish flag on a building, the other flags i didn't even recognise, but that one blue for the EU (Cyprus).
un vrai foule, to be there (was) is a Patriotic act, loud expressions of thought, and the Police who will employ the forces
they need to fill their little trucks for the Judges, ironic; more prosperity for the class he condems as parasites (anywhere
Erdogan travels in the Turkish world), hard choices because those he has left in stagnation still live. no shine for Turkey
tarnished,

...short visit; lucky for him in his sour mood, finger, as you say vp, would have been better if he brought his family here for
a short vacation, sunglasses, on the beach smiling. that would be a troubling surprise for "Greeks", good for Tourism, eh?

more to follow...

This is what a CY called Kanatli of the New Cyprus Party says about Erdogan's visit, the outbursts and the roughing up of CYs by Erdogan's Stormtroopers...

(Originally from Afrika re-tweeted at http://www.cyprusnewsreport.com/?q=node/4405)

.... "Kanatli, said: “This time, Erdogan’s visit was not just a simple visit. A tyranny was experienced everywhere and in every way. There was a tyranny in the statements of Erdogan and several other officials; there was a psychological violence and threats in his words and also physical violence against the protesters. The violence targeted the protesters, those who are called marginal groups; which are using their democratic rights. The violence and tyranny appeared not only in the places that Erdogan was, but in every place in the country…”

Kanatli said further that YKP together with several other organizations will continue resisting against tyranny and violence.

Recalling the incidents occurred during Erdogan’s visit between the protesters and the so-called police, Kanatli condemned the incidents and stated further that violence did not used only in the streets, but also it was used in Erdogan’s statements prior and during his visit to the island.

Saying that it is remarkable the statements made by Erdogan that he will not give Morfou, Karpassia and Varosha, Kanatli said that taking into consideration that even Rauf Denktas had accepted the arrangement of the 29% of the territory issue, Erdogan is much more in favour of the non-solution in Cyprus than Denktas.

Commenting on Erdogan’s statement that “We will not withdraw the Turkish troops”, Kanatli said that Erdogan declares that he does not even accepts the subjects being agreed on the table in the past. Kanatli stated further that with all these, Erdogan admits that everything at the negotiation table is ostensive and that it is Turkey and himself that take the final decisions.

Kanatli said that these kind of provocative statements sabotage the negotiation process and called on all to go out in the streets and struggle for its communal existence, for peace and democracy. ...."
