Good, he can keep four divisions in Cyprus forever then, fuck him.

Indeed. Erdogan's bizarre outburst leaves Turkey with nowhere to go. Erdogan has retreated into the delusions of a man consumed by his own arrogance. How galling it must be for the Great Caliph to be thwarted by such a small island.

Instead of striding the globe as a world leader he finds himself at the mercy of Cyprus's Presidency of the EU - furious and unable to comprehend how a small state he refuses to recognise should assume such an eminent responsibility!

How galling for the Caliph that little Cyprus should serve to remind Erdogan not of his great strength but of his great weakness! No wonder the Caliph is full of bluster and hot air ...

Well it's bizarre in the sense that he has completely exposed the Turkish side's intransigence and taken the pressure off the G/Cs that Turkish diplomats were counting on. What pressure is there on Christofias now that Erdogan has made it clear he's not interested in any solution other than on his own ridiculous terms?

"So whats the GCs response will they rise to the challenge? or make the standard excuses?"

The challenge being to officialise the present situation with a signature and an engineered yes to a plebiscite. Not likely.

Neo partitionists are eager to cite Kossovo, Czechoslovakia and now the Sudan as examples of new state creation, forgetting one salient feature missing in those cases, STOLEN PROPERTY. The more one investigates modern Turkey the more theft one uncovers, be it of others' land or more mundane things like trademarks, patents, commercial names etc. Like I said, they are much bigger clowns than the Greeks. And all these years we thought them to be serious and methodical diplomats and a whole mythology of garbage was built up about them. Davut should rename his book Strategic Theft to reflect exactly what is being planned for neighboring countries.

A question....

Given the bizarre set of outbursts from a party who isn't party to the inter-CY talks and who shouldn't be making any interfering outbursts, is Pres X right in continuing to attend the talks without a statement from the UN on the outbursts?

Shouldn't Pres X be bringing these outbursts to Downer's attention, making a formal complaint and telling Downer that he expects Bonky Moon to issue a statement on the interference and helpfulness or otherwise of the outbursts????????

3 years of negotiations lets see if the GCs will leave the table, Erdoğan has clearly stated the time has come to sort your act out and find a solution by year end and go to referendum by Jan/Feb or forget this union thing because we will go our own way.

Rise to the challenge or walk GCs.

Oh, to answer me own question... it would seem that representations have already been made to the UN on the matter of the Erdogan outbursts...

"...NEW YORK Cyprus’ Permanent Representative at the UN, Ambassador Minas Hadjimichael, has denunciated the Turkish Prime Minister’s recent statements over Cyprus, calling on the United Nations to make note of these statements in the UN Secretary General's report on his good offices in Cyprus, due to be delivered to the Security Council members early next week..."
