I think we should first see if Turkey has the balls or whether this is just another ill conceived empty threat ...

Again the Annan plan comes up as a huge lost opportunity.

What evidence is there that the attitudes displayed by Erdoghan at Birkentstok and since then would have changed simply by the acceptance of the plan?

And the view that once the plan is rejected ALL adjustments are gone, and the only thing that remains is for the GCs to accept the status quo and officialise it with their singnature, is this view a sign of good faith? Would you negotiate with a man of that character? Someone who enters a negotiation inorder to win, as opposed to arrive at a solution, is not actually negotiating, he is undermining the process. This has been proven in studies in, among others, Harvard. What we are dealing with is a megalomaniac neo ottomanist who is looking for ANY excuse to avoid a solution. Good, he can keep four divisions in Cyprus forever then, fuck him.

Nice! although I was thinking of developing high-tech weapons and taking advantage of our international lobby. A change in the balance of power will force Turkey to bugger off.
Take a look at Israel; a small country, like Cyprus, controlling most of the Middle East and beyond.

"Cyprus will be freed the right way"

Everyone certainly seems to be puhsing us that way. Erdoghan's latest spoutings being one more indication of that approach.

But defence capability is something like an onion, it has many layers and is built up from the core outwards. We violated this principle with the S300 and paid for it, although it might have been a trick to provide A/A capability in the space between Crete and Cyprus. I wonder if there is the political will to start on such a long and costly path.

Not while AKEL/Christofiasco are in charge. Let's hope for better days with better politicians like TP.
