Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan lashed out at Democratic Society Congress (DTK) that announced democratic autonomy in country's southeast, saying all Turkish citizens already had democratic autonomy.

"Our citizens of Kurdish origin are not minorities in this country," Erdogan told reporters on Friday. Earlier in the day, Turkish prosecutors launched investigation into declaration of democratic autonomy made Thursday by Democratic Society Congress, an umbrella group of non-governmental organizations in southeastern Turkey, including Peace & Democracy Party (BDP).

"We will never negotiate such an insincere proposal," Erdogan said. "If they demand peace, there is only one thing they have to do first: the terrorist organization must lay down arms. Operations will continue as long as they do not lay down arms."

DTK's proclamation of democratic autonomy came shortly after a clash in southeastern province Diyarbakir that killed 13 Turkish soldiers and wounded 7 others on Thursday. PM Erdogan said evil-minded acts would never get a good response from Turkey.

"I am very clear on this. They should not expect good will from us. Neither them (the terrorist organization) nor their political extensions."
Erdogan said Turkey's policy of "single nation" would continue. He said: "These four fundamental principles will never change: one nation, one flag, one country and one state. We will keep going on our way with these principles. Nobody should expect us to take a step back."
Erdogan recalled his remarks he made during an election campaign before June 12 elections, saying: "There is no Kurdish problem in this country. There is PKK problem. There are problems of our citizens of Kurdish origin."

One could take this statement and with minor changes substitute Kibrilisi for Kurds - however as the TURks and kurDS are one nation perhaps we should recognise this by combining their names in some way to rename the country......any suggestions on how to do it?
