Bill, that was Makarios.

All Cypriot Presidents served Cyprus well. Above all they preserved it, as per Makarios legacy! Makarios steered well during extremely difficult times, especially during the early 60s, when passions ran high & strategies varied widely, and after the 1974 catastrophe. Many will accuse him of inviting Attila. I will accuse him of one thing: not taking off the robe once elected President!

His 13 points could even today constitute the solution to our problem, if tCypriots were in control of their destiny.

Halil, I have an honest request. Could you refer me to a publication/essay/analysis that focuses on Makarios' mistakes/ attitude/ policies vis-a-vis the ethnic tCypriot minority? Something you feel is objective. Thank you.
