Think of it more as the ace up the sleeve....A country under conflict was allowed to enter the EU against their own rules and now the further embarrassment of said country taking EU presidency. I say embarrassment but I mean a massive problem that most EU countries should not have to deal with and do not want to!!

A master stoke by Turkey!!!!!!!!!!!

Zan..a clarification. The certain country is not in a conflict. Is just under occupation. Occupators should not have the right even to speak. But certain occupators are lucky. They are dealing with dols !!!(leadership of G/cs ).

You are making the same mistake, for decades, of ignoring the TC factor  Turkey is not the only fruit. If she were then you would have a point. The Zurich agreement and its constitution along with TCs are your problem or it would have been over long ago!!

Who was ignoring T/cs was TMT and your fanatics.T/cs were in good path going together with G/cs but your leadership guided them to be cooperators of the previous occupators (British) and start killing the legal people/population of the Island.Do not start the same story- is very well known to us.

Rumours...Greece, under financial pressure, is going to lease for 99 years 120 rock Aegean Islands to Russia.!!!Leasing will include the defend /air/sea territory responsibility to leaser.

Be careful mate!!! Thats what Turkey did with Cyprus and it got annexed by UK

Wrong. Greece just need (the population) to realize that the Ottoman occupation ended and that the government is their partner and not their enemy. So simple.

Ottomans colonies need time- like Cyprus after Ottomans and British occupations.Believe me that the feeling of mainlanders Greeks against their government (at least to a substantial part of them) is like Greece government is an Ottoman one. You can not believe it ,unless you stay here.

So when your government screws up, cooking the books etc, do they always blame the Ottomans   Perhaps they should stop hiding behind their fingers and say, "I'm Greek and I have screwed up".

What I think E. was trying to say was that a large number of Greeks consider their government of today to be no better than the ottoman governments of times gone by, perhaps because those who govern Greece care little for Greece and the Greek people...?

I would like to hear, from those countries that are allowed to voice an opinion, which country doesn't feel like that about their government.

Some governments are considerably worse than others. Just guessing now, but I would say that the citizens of Sweden or Switzerland think more highly of their respective governments than say the Greeks, although it goes without saying of course there are governments considerably worse than that of Greece. Comparing the Greek government to the governments of the rest of the EU15 (ignore former eastern-bloc for now), and to the turkish government, I'd say the greek government is more at the byzantine/ottomon end, rather than on the renaissance/western liberal end. Of course several Greece's european neighbours have recently also had bad governments - think fascism in Germany, Italy & Spain, a long-running junta in Portugal, and of course the depraved governments of the recent EU members from the eastern bloc.
