No Flipping Flags and Awful Anthems

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

No Flipping Flags and Awful Anthems

Postby bill cobbett » Sat Jul 09, 2011 5:17 pm

Of the opinion that post any settlement, there should not be separate flags for the northern and southern zones and there shouldn't be any separate anthems.

These things are divisive symbols of separatism and the nationalist motherland lovers on both sides will take them and run with them. Best if they didn't have the chance to do so.

There should only be a single CY National Anthem (a nice instrumental number or one in a neutral language) and Flag.

Take it all agree??? ...... :(

State flags are in fact a good thing, but the flag must represent the whole state and all it's citizens and not just the majority. It will fly next to the Cypriot flag and the EU flag.

National anthem will just be one that represent the country only and not individual states. It will be a Cypriot anthem for ALL Cypriots....period.

Absolutely VP... and it may surprise you know that I can describe an unusual feature of the state flag of Hawaii, so am very familiar with states flags, state trees, state flowers in the USA but .... but.... BUT....

... but...the USA doesn't have scallywags of the likes your good self and die-hard Turkish Nationalists and the not so good Yialoser, and his black-shirted ELAN cross-dressing friends, all of who will have a field day with state anthems, state flags, statues of Atadicky at every chance... etc etc ... best not to carry this excess baggage in to a new era.

(oh ... and they don't have ethnically based quotas in elections in the USA)
