Double the price for a receipt

Postby bizzybabe » Tue Jul 05, 2011 10:34 am

I recently had to buy some supplies for work. I called up a Cypriot supplier who quoted me 80 euros for the goods i needed over the phone.

I went to his shop to collect the goods, when i got there he asked did i want a receipt? I said no, and he replied in that case the price was only 40 euros!

Since when dos the price double when a receipt is supplied?

No Receipt means he doesn't have to pay VAT so he saves 15% right off. Plus I suppose he also saves paying income tax on his profit. Let's not forget the cost of the receipt! I'm surprised he even told you there was a difference in price. Welcome to the African section of Europe.

I don't beleive it was double price, this is exagerated. Yes they do charge without receipt, and if you want one they add the vat. Never heard of halfing the price with no receipt.

That's what I call "killing two birds with one stone".

The shop keeper gets to screw "babe" and the government at the same time without costing him a penny.
