CY Teachers Condemn Islamic Madrassa School Plans

Postby bill cobbett » Thu Jun 30, 2011 11:48 pm

Teachers Unions in the Occupied Areas are condemning plans to open an Islamic School or Madrassa north of the cease-fire line.

The Islamist Organisation which plans to build this school have also condemned the Republic of CY government for its provision of free education in the Free Areas to the children of the Occupied Areas, as making the children "enemies of Islam".

An Islamic fundamentalist Madrassa on EU soil. Only in Cyprus.

I only wish our teachers were as forward and progressive as TC teachers. GC teachers are mostly sick nationalists and for those that doubt it let me site the recent visit-to-be at Kokkinoxoria Lyceum of Sevgul Uladag to talk about the plight of families with missing persons. Sevgul never managed to visit the school because "Turks have no business in our schools".

Actually there are many fundamentalist islamic schools of the Wahabbi sect in the UK and in various parts of the EU, so your wrong there, as far as I know Sevgul Uludag has on many occassions been vilified, but then what do we expect from 40 years of separation?

This has nothing to do with separation but with the fascist education establishment that still gives the church a leading role in education. These people have always been like this and they are the cause for the separation rather than the other way round.

One thing at a time please.
Yes the Kibrisli teachers are astonishingly very progressive. The Kypreos ones are representatives of conservatism. I wouldn't say the majority are nationalists but i would definitely say the majority have a fascist mentality that they get from Greece where most of them studied.
Kokkinochoria as you know are the core villages of the Eoka "heroes". I am ure Sevgul would be most welcome in other schools.
And yes unfortunately the church has a say in our educational system (only in our educational system? the damn priests are everywhere -you name it hotels, banks, real estates...) to the point that "relegious knowledge" is perhaps the only lesson that we are taught from 1st grade elementary school to the last grade of high school. And what do we learn from that? i personally learned nothing.

Ha! A man of morals, you're still happy to be fed by these so called 'facists Education Establishments'. Don't see you handing back you large monthly salary, nor will you turn down you lump sum and hugh pension, when the time comes. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. I wonder what your coleagues would make of your comments. This is backstabbing at its best, but what does one expect from the resident turkish mouth piece.

Don't condemn the moslemisation of our country, just slate the teachers for not accepting it freely, a*sehole.

Don't want to C&P a large section of another publication but may be worth looking at the comments from CYs living in the Occupied Areas under the article in the Snail on this at...
http://www.cyprus-mail.com/cyprus/secul ... l/20110630

One commentator reminds us that this is not a new policy, that it's part and parcel of the approach started by Rough Donktosh in the '80s to appease and attract the settlers... of the... if it's Turkish and Islam it's good but if it's Cypriot and Secular it ain't sort.
