As an Unofficial Muhktar for the CY Republic of North London, may extend a welcome to Jonbee, Sotos and any others from our Colony of CY visiting us this Summer.

Those visiting may wish to take advantage of our Free Museums, visiting amongst other places our very Enlightened Museum in Bloomsbury where they will be able to view, at no cost, many of the world's treasures, brought together under one roof for their viewing convenience, exhibits such as The London Marbles. Other not to be missed museums include the Free Museums at South Kensington, which includes BillC's favourite, the Science Museum which contains a world-class collection of electrical appliances including a gallery devoted to the history of 3-pin plugs.

Regretfully those wishing to pay homage at the wax statue of our late and great Big Mak at Madame Tussauds (nearest tube Baker Street) will face rip-off tourist entry prices.

The best money-saver recommendation is to purchase a travel card known as an Oyster Card at tube stations and thousands of other outlets, and to keep it topped up. On the matter of travelling on the Tube don't forget that Londoners will be very understanding if you ignore the "Stand on the Right" instructions on the escalators.

We are also very pleased to offer CF members from our Dependency in CY, a not to be missed invitation to afternoon tea with Mrs Windsor in the gardens of Buck House, which includes a chauffeured taxi to take them there. We have a special phone-line for this event, just phone 999 and use the special code EOKA, and Mrs W will arrange for you to be picked up and kept at her pleasure.

... oh ... and don't forget the must do photograph momento of you on our Soughgate Roundabout, from which all roads lead.

and as we all fly back to Cyprus they will be standing at the CY Check-in desk singing that well known song of friendship to the tune of "Auld Lang Syne"

"P*ss off! You W*nk!
P*ss off! You W*nk!
P*ss off! You W*nk!

Thank you STUD... you're encouraging me...

In the very unlikely event there are any art lovers amongst our visitors from CY, they may enjoy Free Entry to our National Gallery at Trafalgar Square, which has one of the world's finest collections of art.

During your visit there, don't forget to pick up your easy to catch free pigeon from the Square or one of the ducks from Hyde Park to take back to CY for the souvla.

More radical lovers of contemporary art may visit the Free Entry Tate Modern (nearest tube London Bridge)... bring your own house-hold brick and contribute to modern art. Those coming from the Occupied Areas are encouraged to bring their own soiled underwear and tampons, nightwear and bedroom paraphernalia and add it to an exhibition by the CY artist Tracey Amin.

one of our girlies showed some intertest in fine art - when we were away on Hoilday in France in 2009 we let them chose some post cards - one chose a picture of a Dolphin leaping out of the water, prettied-up with some glitter and shiny sparly stars, while the other one chose the Mona Lisa. It was a deliberate choice.

A few dys later we went to the Louvre, where this little voice cause some amazement when she pipped-up, without prompting- " Mona Lisa - Leonardo da Vinci". She also seemed to enjoy French Impresionists, Vincent Van Gogh and the like.

Her twin sister could'nt be *rsed - she just wanted to climb on some of the large statuary in the Musee d'Orsay.

Why dont you choose a village nearby with good transport links so you can be in London in a very short time . as accomodation there will more likely cost you less.

Diff to say without a budget, but have a look at something in Bayswater (close to Oxford Street), Queensway close to BM), Kensington (for the museums), Victoria (for Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parl, Buck Palace)... but a typical minimum price of around £70 a night near the central area. Suggest have a look and post a few urls and will mark your card.

As to children's travel... you can get a child's Oyster Card (you're EU citizens so entitled) which gives Free travel for under-18s, but you need to send in a form with a photo and it's returned by post. You may have to get a reli to sort it out for you.

As to Mikkiko's idea of a hotel in outlying villages... yes, they'll be cheaper, but you'll have the travel cost and it can take an hour to get in to Central London from the suburbs... and the tube and overground trains shut down just after midnight.

A tip for eating out... pubs are very good value, and most have become pretty child friendly in recent years.

Oh ... and don't forget >>> never go South of the River at night <<< unless you want to experience a good old London Mugging.
