Its pretty obvious who the buyers are, the famagusta port is also being sold either to an italian or arab firm. Although your right about her economy and the trade deficit being a very large elephant in the room, she is incapable of withdrawing from Cyprus. Part of her final partition strategy were the big spending cuts recently imposed, another measure to equalize and intergrate the TRNC into the Turkish economy along with with the truly frighteneing privatisation schemes going full steam ahead. The best offer Turkey would make is handing back some land for recognition of the TRNC, but that would be just a bluff, they know the GC,s would never accept that. It pains me to say it, but I beleive its partition and final absorption into the Turkish state unless the GC's accept political equality, which also will never happen! Turkish buisness interests run far too deep for a fair solution.
I generally share your pessimism my friend, and thank you for sharing your interesting thoughts with us.
Could you please elaborated on the red part? The reason i ask is because Christofias repeats it all the time that he is working for a BBF solution with POLITICAL EQUALITY. For most Kypreos that's a granted compromise already and the fact is there cannot be any Federation without political equality of the states. and for most Kypreos that's acceptable.
I am really puzzled of what you said, so could you please elaborate?
