Yes, you did state the above few weeks ago, but there is nothing there there yet, therefore it cannot be a prediction yet, if ever.

But for the sake of argument, if what you "predicted" were to come true, why would the GCs move to Varosha to make huge investments to fix it up, pay taxes to support the occupation of the north and still be treated worse than other foreigners in their own country where they will not be able to leave their properties to their heirs under the north's Racists policies.? What would be the incentive for them to move to Varosha.?

Their choice, dont say we are not generous or do not offer anything.

Its pretty obvious who the buyers are, the famagusta port is also being sold either to an italian or arab firm. Although your right about her economy and the trade deficit being a very large elephant in the room, she is incapable of withdrawing from Cyprus. Part of her final partition strategy were the big spending cuts recently imposed, another measure to equalize and intergrate the TRNC into the Turkish economy along with with the truly frighteneing privatisation schemes going full steam ahead. The best offer Turkey would make is handing back some land for recognition of the TRNC, but that would be just a bluff, they know the GC,s would never accept that. It pains me to say it, but I beleive its partition and final absorption into the Turkish state unless the GC's accept political equality, which also will never happen! Turkish buisness interests run far too deep for a fair solution.

I generally share your pessimism my friend, and thank you for sharing your interesting thoughts with us.
Could you please elaborated on the red part? The reason i ask is because Christofias repeats it all the time that he is working for a BBF solution with POLITICAL EQUALITY. For most Kypreos that's a granted compromise already and the fact is there cannot be any Federation without political equality of the states. and for most Kypreos that's acceptable.
I am really puzzled of what you said, so could you please elaborate?

If Erdogan offers to return Varosha under U.N. control, along with opening Turkeys ports/airports to G.C's,then Christophias could agree to open the ports in the north under E.U. control for the T.C's.Ercan Airport would still be the sticking point if Erdogan insists on it,although opening it under international control might solve that problem?Offering G.C's the right to return to Varosha under T.C. control has been tried before and would not be accepted so it would be a pointless gesture to do the same again.Suggesting that Turkey would otherwise renovate Varosha and open it is also a non-starter-it would cost billions and anyway, most of the damage to it was done either through Turkish intent after 1974 when they looted it systematically or by the sheer stupidity of keeping it closed and abandoned for so many years!

Don't forget that ports and Airports have to do with immigration as well. Interntional control of Airports & EU control of ports mean nothing if the law on immigration/who gets in and out is that of TrashNCan...

Why not TC administration? why is fine for us to be forced into this position and not the other way around. Isnt a BBF along the same principles?

O.K. cool down everyone! The Turkish Military press office have announced that the clearing operation in Varosha is just the annual removal of dry grass and weeds to lower fire risks and nothing else should be assumed from it,so it was all speculation about Erdogan making a spectacular move etc!!
