I think SKI-preo was being sarcastic
Cyprus has its problems but it is not as bad as some other places. If you are not very careful you can be literally robed in some places. A friend of mine recently went to Spain and her bag was stolen while she was eating at some fast food place. The thief took her money, mobile, camera and other personal items. I am not saying such things never happen to Cyprus but for sure they happen far less often than many other popular tourist destinations.
Well, imho, both S and SP make valid, but unrelated points.
Tourism is a service business, and there are too many stories from visitors who have had a bad experience, but let's keep in mind that most visitors have a good experience, so much so that many return year after year... but CY has to work on this service, to keep up with the level of service in the competition in other parts of the world and try to get the bad experiences down to a minimum. There is def work to do.
On the matter of crime, always have had no fear of crime in CY... often leave doors and windows open at night without a second thought (don't like air-con outside shops and banks and if wanted to experience cool would stay in GB).
... but back to sun-beds.... Sometimes on hols, it's great to relax all day on those beds and brollies, but if we're only on the beach for an hour or two will take our deck-chairs and brollies, which as all will know are very good value in CY, and we will find a beach or a space on the beach
away from the sun-bed area cos the chap who lets out the sunbed will have paid a very hefty price to the local municipality to run his business. Am saying use a little bit of common sense, find a quiet bit of beach away from the sun-bed areas and let the sun-bed man earn a living.
