Best to take a more, (how to put this?) yes, a more CY approach in a situation like this , so a bit less of the polite asking... When in Rome and all that.

you all got it wrong guys,
what's needed is more drive thro's we have MacDonalds (bless 'em) KFC's we've even got drive thro kiosks, no garage is without a gang of helpers to fill your tank without you getting outta ya car(sorry sir but you must get out of it for the car wash)oh!bugger!!!
so if the developers think it out the answer IS drive thro shops , marks & spencer,(trying on garments in car might be fun!) drive thro malls, easy for atm's at sides of banks (unguarded tellers for robbing banks)excellent getaway no need to get in or out of car.
then pedestrians can walk in road, central reservations, avoiding these vehicles that need to get into stores, takeaways,supermarkets etc.everybody be happy then.
