In the two months I have lived here,I have to agree about the parking on pavements is wrong in as much that it must be a nightmare for mothers with prams and the disabled,I was talking to a young GC mother about this and she said a key does wonders for the paint work,(wonder what she means) What I really find upsetting is the complete lack of care for childrens safety by some parents,I saw one mother driving with a very young baby on her lap holdlding with one hand, using a phone with the other and steering with her elbow,in fact I see this woman doing this most days and have a video of it which I am very tempted to show the police if I thought that they cared.Another one is fathers with one or two kids standing on the front of their motor scooters, sorry but these people do no deserve to have children and should serve jail time and a hefty fine. And before anyone says it,yes I know I am a guest in this country and and I accept all that goes with it.Amen

In a civilized coutry, where the police really knows the meaning of laws respect, cars are removed from pedestrian sidewalks....
here, having to suppose the police its too busy while watching football matches, it seems everything its working on the wrong side.
Called, mailed, may times to police department, they always answered, when they did...., "sorry, we do not have time to check all the cars standing on pedestrian sidewalks..."
in a civilized country, but not here, police use to apply fines...money that will go on municypality wallet.......Here seems, they do not need at all these money.
funny, thinking how bad maintened are the roads, the public spaces......
In a civilized country...but not in cyprus.....European country......unfortunately

Welcome to CF Musical.

Despite liberal ways on parking, so park where the bleeding 'ell you feel like, but a few things find intolerable when driving cos they are very, very dangerous...

Mobile phones..... arghhhhhhhhhh!
Conversations with the driver.... if anyone tries to have a chat when am driving... they get an earful of very loud music, cos will turn up the stereo.
Seat-Belts, seat-belts and seat-belts... how many (particularly young) CYs have lost their lives cos they ain't been wearing seat-belts. It's a NO BRAINER... wear a seat-belt and make sure passengers do.
Drinking and Driving ....... Jees... do have to say more on this one?????

who says AlessandroMorelli is British .....- bad parking is bad parking is bad parking is bad parking and ars*h*l*s to anyone for defending it on the p*ss poor grounds this is how it is here. Still if you want to live in a place where some of the c*nts have no respect for the safety of others (including their own children) but are narrow-minded egotesticle lazy mean tw*ts (who give the majority of drivers who are sane and sensible a bad name) you deserve all the critism you get. And that is before we get on to other practices such a jumping red lights, and racing in some town streets such as the seafront road in Limassol and to the inverse square law relating p*nis size to engine capacity.

dear Eleni, if people move to another country, doesnt means that i have to agree to illegality.
If u aim to be an european country 9 that i think u do not deserve at all), u have to fill all the european requirements, also about trafic rules.
but again, here, in this country, it seems people still think to live like in prehistory....

Wish u will never visit my country, or if, when it will be, do not complain coz mafia will come to visit u....This is our tradition, and u have to accept it. like or misslike......
cypriot peole doesnt have culture, doesnt have respect, not for themself, neither for aliens.....
Remember, that...u have to consider urself extremely lucky to have such a lot of aliens here......these are money for u!!!!!!!! If no aliens, no europe....no advantages.....

Cypriot...learn to respect people.
Or soon, another turkish idea will come......and then, where to park ur cars???? where to race????? where to pass on red crosslights?????
It seems, here, cypriot, and cypriot police, are too lazy people......They do not like to respect, they do not like to require people to respect laws.....
What a "country"

Allessandro,

You started this thread with insults & you have continued, yes everyone will agree the PARKING & DRIVING could & should be improved,so could a lot of things. It wasn't sooo long ago that one of the worsed places to drive was Italy.

You have chosen to live in Cyprus, it may be a little different to Italy or anywhere else, change doesn't come over night.
There are many Cypriots who take great care to stay within the Law & others that flout it, the same as in any other country.
By reducing yourself to Insults & at the same time advising others not to comlpain if they visit your country "well".

I agree with this sentiment: it is a minority who give the majority a bad name, but I must agree the situation would be much improved if we had effective firm but fair enforcement of the laws.

As to ITALY: a friend of mine was on holiday there and he noticed lots of cars illegally parked: then he saw people dash from the offices and shops, get in their cars and drive-off. Just a few minutes later the Police came down the Street. As the Police left the street so the cars all returned to their illegal parking spots.

The question is how did everyone know when the Police were coming to check that street?
