greek mess

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

greek mess

Postby ZoC » Wed Jun 22, 2011 12:11 am

as we all know greece is an embarrassing mess. rife with corruption, nepotism, tax evasion and inefficency, and with bankruptcy looming large, its credibility as a functioning state is now in question. there's a growing ridicule and resentment towards greece from tax payers in northern europe, and, in particular, from powerful allies to cyprus such as germany and france.

with this in mind, isn't it in the cypriot national interest to distance cyprus entirely from this sick man of europe so as not risk losing credibility and influence by association. discuss...

We belong to the Greek nation and we will not betray our nation. The only real ally Cyprus has is Greece. As they say "A friend in need is a friend indeed". Germany, France and all others do whats for their own interests.

The Greek mess since its inception in 1821 has been a never ending circus of turmoil.
Even if they do pull free of this financial crises, be assured that in the months and years that follow... more corruption, more scandals and more riots with the blame put on other nations.
Their track record is a reflection of the people.

You will notice the general attitude of embarrassed Cypriots is slowly changing.

i can't tell u how many greek citizens have "betrayed the greek nation" here in london... like rats fleeing a sinking ship... bringing over all their laundered money and snapping up properties in the west end.

i think a special tax should be levied in cyprus (on those cypriots who will not betray the greek nation only mind), to help replace the wealth that's been plundered by these rats. a tax on the stupid.

I am amused by the "high horse" attitude that the French and Germans have taken at all this blaming the Greeks for every scandal and corruption incident this continent has ever known. A small example of this hypocrisy is that one of the terms Sarkozy and Markel placed on papandreou for the first installment was that Greece would honour its defense contracts with the French and German arms companies. You wanna know who shoulders the biggest blame for this mess? Find out who made the most out of the purchase of Greek credit default swaps.

The "Xenoi"! It is always the fault of the foreigners. They are responsible for Greece's never ending problems.

Not correct Bananiot. I don't think anybody places any responsibility to say the Indians or the Mexicans. But there are certain nations who have been robbing the world for centuries and who are responsible for the deaths of millions... you know who they are, your good friends, with whom you collaborate in order to help them to exploit our island.

Greeks are not perfect, but they are far better than many others.

To chop and change an old saying... if Mr Hadgipavlosyorgadis owes a hundred euros to Bank of Greece and he ain't got the money, Mr H has a problem... but if the Bank of Greece owes tens of billions of Euros to the FrancoGerman Bank, the latter has a problem.

People shouldn't try to comment on things they know very little about.
