Diving Inside The Zenobia Wreck Larnaca Cyprus

Postby shmuel16 » Sun Jun 12, 2011 1:22 pm

Last weekend Viking Divers had a large group of people diving inside the famous Zenobia shipwreck.

The first dive was at the front part of the ship, as it is too big to do the whole wreck in one dive. Having done two dives the previous day, we decided to take the group inside the Swedish ship to the Cafeteria and the Accomodation sections of the wreck. We spent around 25 minutes inside both sections, with the water temperature around 22 degrees and visibility up to 20/25 metres, it helped us to enjoy the dive even more! The wonderful marine life outside the wreck impressed the group, with large Gruppa's, Barracuda's, Sea Bream, Sea Bass and Rainbow Wrasse all around us.

The diving season here in Cyprus is here. Anyone who wants to experience the wonderful diving in Cyprus, even if you have never dived before, you are all welcome to join us here. If you are interested please leave me a private message and i will contact you as soon as possible.

Larnaca is organising an underwater video competition having as a theme the marine life of Zenobia, a ship that sank off Larnaca in 1980, considered one of the best wreck dive sites in the region.

The competition is organised by the town’s tourism development company (ETAP), the municipality, the diving centres association, and the owner of the wreck.

It is part of the Zenobia Week (23-27 June 2015).

ETAP said Zenobia has become an exceptional artificial reef, hosting thousands of species of fish and other marine life and that was why the competition seeks to record this impressive world and present it to the wider public.

The theme of the competition is Zenobia Marine Life and the video must be two minutes maximum. Deadline for submission is June 19.
