TURKEY

Read a series of visitors accounts on Turkey, by well known Greek columnist (just retired) Anna Damianide. This is all in Greek I am afraid but Anna gives a great inside on the ordinary Turkish person, whom she describes as a most polite creature.

A new visitor in Turkey (particularly in West part, like Istanbul) can easily notice the difference on local people faces. -Turks historically came from Far Anatolia , mostly ex Mongolia and then a certain person -leader of just a village (his name was "OSMAN) created what we know today by name " Turks"
Walking in Sumeinanoglu street ( Greek PERA) with thousands of people walking, you can easily see the faces of "Mongolian" origin. Same time you can also see many people looking like ancient Greeks or Romans.!!!

Taking into account the "historical fact " that Istanbul (that time capital of Byzantium Empire capital) was invated and occupied by the Sultan by the help of many Greeks !!!(this has been historically proved) is easy for someone to conclude that today's Turkish elite is -on a substantial part- coming from people of Greek or -at least- Byzantium origin.

Before Turks or -particularly G/Cs react on above statement pls apply to official and worldwide approved historical sourses.

Kindness regards

Good morning. That is what I have been telling the world for yolks. Difficult to find a 'pure' Turk in Constantinopolis, oops, let's go modern, Istanbul. :D
