We should have given NATO a proper one (not the pseudo-NATO bases of the Brits) here along time ago, but we were 'non-aligned' with those other 'non-aligned' countries like Cuba and Yugoslavia!

I suppose if Turkey wants to elevate its position in NATO as this report suggests it would be safe to assume that, despite denials from some quarters, it really does want to look West not East. It follows that Turkey is intent on becoming part of the European Union. How long does it take the thickos in Ankara to figure out that the entrance to the EU is via the ROC.

I suggest to USA to move NATO bases in Turkey to Tehran!!It will be no difference in next 4 years.

Does Turkey want to keep in with Nato as it wants the protection Nato might afford from potentailly unstable mainland Eastern neighbors??
