The UN parameters are very clear Bananiot. A BBF with one international personality, one sovereignty and one citizenship.
This is the only international UN parameter we are locked into. Alexander Downer has stated this fact, and he has also stated that the Annan Plan is no longer applicable. The 2 leaders must negotiate a settlement based within UN parameters.
Now, the Federated State in Cyprus can be as good as what Australia, Canada, US or Germany have. The UN parameters do not specify a Confederacy. This is Turkey's position.
Furthermore, the UN know exactly which side is intransigent. AD is not a stupid man, and he will tell it the way it is just like he did already in occupied Cyprus. On the one side he sees a compromising and rational Christofias, and on the other side he sees an idiot.
Also, it certainly IS important what the people want. It is the people who will live with the ramifications, so they need to accept or vote on ANY proposals put forward.
