Flaming June !!!!!!!

Postby bill cobbett » Sat Jun 04, 2011 7:30 pm

Jees!... another hot day here in London,... diff to remember a Spring and early Summer like this one.

Don't think we've seen rain on more than a couple of days in the past couple of months.

Hope it doesn't turn out to be another summer like 1976, when as some will recall, along with record-breaking temps, it didn't rain for months.

Far too hot... bottom line is heat and sun are best kept for CY.

After I was convinced not to do the road trip this summer I am considering holiday alternatives and London is one of the contestants. What worries me is the weather. I would not like it if it rains constantly. What are the chances that the good weather will continue until the end of August?

:D :D

Errrr.... best that can be said about predicting GB weather is that it's unpredictable more than a few days in advance... but they are getting better with long range forecasting.

Here's what the BBC sees for the month ahead..

If it doesn't rain we'll probably have our usual prayers for rain. :)

"Across the pond," I'm wearing a sweater to keep warm ... unseasonably cool weather, and the sun is shining.

Well, today has seen a change in London weather... with the occasional very light drizzle and the odd spots of rain with a pretty fresh breeze... and it's been wall to wall total cloud.

(I might add that I'm wearing the sweater in-doors  ) Just like yours, our weather is inconsistent from day-to-day. We're not called "New England" for nothing. :)

Move south, very hot in New York last week, Sunday to Wednesday. I was told it hit 91 degrees one day

Was looking at the number of words and phrases to describe rain in the English Language last night... so many of them.

Wonder if they are similar in American English?

Phrases like ... it's raining cats and dogs, or it's chucking it down etc.
