Same weather here last week, but then that's my point. As the saying goes: "New England weather: If you don't like it, wait a minute."

Was looking at the number of words and phrases to describe rain in the English Language last night... so many of them.

Wonder if they are similar in American English?

Phrases like ... it's raining cats and dogs, or it's chucking it down etc.

Some of the idioms are similar, but rather than "chucking," "pouring." Chucking connotes "puking," "praying to the porcelain god," etc.

ah but in Britain one throws up, when speaking to God on the great white telephone - that is why the "down" is so significant in describing the meteorological concept - we do however "Up-Chuck" for the vomitting..

On the waeather front I am just praying for a dry early July in the UK

Jees!... another hot day here in London,... diff to remember a Spring and early Summer like this one. Don't think we've seen rain on more than a couple of days in the past couple of months. Hope it doesn't turn out to be another summer like 1976, when as some will recall, along with record-breaking temps, it didn't rain for months. Far too hot... bottom line is heat and sun are best kept for CY.

What a difference a week makes.
Today we hear news of an official drought in some areas, but thunderstorms,lightning and heavy rain in some parts of London.
Not seen proper sun for a while now......and the garden loves the rain

Yes, completely diff these past few days... so much so, that can say bleeding weather, far too cold and wet.

Had thunder and lighting here in London a few hours ago with quite a cloud burst.

Think I'll put the central heating on tonight,... by the way of a thick wooly jumper.
