I am curious about the scorpion find.....dodgy to say the least. :?

Ooooh yes, now you mention it, a scorpion and a snake,!!!

Very odd, some kind of warning in code?

I bet it wasn't a batsalli nor a gufi.

No, the question is whether the snake was cypriot or settler?

The truth is Turkey's tourism got a huge blow. The damage from this bad publicity will cost them millions. And it will not cost them less by blaming the occupied.

I believe Turkey has more effective ways to bend the Kibrislis down to their knees rather than just accusing them for the poisoned drinks...

if they are running a still (wherever they are based) if they get the tepemprature wong methanol will result: as per Wikipedia the most commonly used alcohol is ethanol, C2H5OH. Ethanol has been produced and consumed by humans for millennia, in the form of fermented and distilled alcoholic beverages. It is a clear flammable liquid that boils at 78.4 °C.

The simplest alcohol is methanol, CH3OH, It is a clear liquid resembling ethanol in smell and properties, with a slightly lower boiling point (64.7 °C). Unlike ethanol, methanol is extremely toxic: One sip (as little as 10 ml) can cause permanent blindness by destruction of the optic nerve and 30 ml (one fluid ounce) is potentially fatal.[1]

If one allows the temperature of the condensate to fall too much then methanol will drop out with the ethanol, with the symptons as reported in Turkey. This happens on a regular basis in many places where home distilling is practised but who has has done this seems to have managed it on an industrial scale.
